Yes, they are the same energy. But love is just one of many aspects of God. God is also peace, joy, power, intelligence etc...
So love is one of God's many qualities...
One can never choose a single word other than "God" to depict God.
An individual whose spirit is filled with love is Godly.
But that alone does not define God.
1 John 4:8 (NIV)
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
1 Corinthians 13 (NIV)
13 If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast but do not have love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
The power of God is known through these three: faith, hope and love.
Faith - a loving trust and confidence through God.
Hope - a loving expectation and desire sparked by Faith in God.
Love - a spirit of righteousness aspired through faith and hope.
This trilogy within the individual presents a devout and reverent Godly spirit depicting the greatest synergy producing an ultimate cooperation of two or more - whereby man defines "Is Love God".
When one seeks the truth, they discover the trilogy filled with many righteous enticing signals leading to enlightenment.
When truthfully enlightened, the individual acknowledges that the word "God" endures forever.
Only through such enlightenment, can the individual determine the true answer for "Is Love God".
All who seek the answer - shall find it abiding in the soul.
Awesome...I do believe that you have the makings of a very useful and interesting hub. Love truly covers a lot of territory.
tbHistorian, if what you have mentioned about love and God is true, I wonder why the religions of the world are at variance in their approach to worship of God. Am sure the real essence is same for all religions and to see difference is just wrong.
In order to answer this, we need to define love. What is love, really? The word has several meanings and connotations. In addition, we should clarify what we mean when we use the word "God."
In order to understand love and God,first, we must think over love because we experience love more clearly than God. We ourselves generate love in our mind so we can say that love is our offspring or in other words, we are the creators of love. This is not the definition of love as per scriptures but a general perception of the people. When we assume love as something different from us, it is a limited and narrow vision of love for love is not apparent in us,rather we have to make efforts to bring it forth and there is a gap between the time when we are loveless and when we are with love. This gap is more in the persons who create love for their dear ones and some close friends only and ignore the rest of beings altogether. When we understand love in it's deeper levels, we enlarge our sphere of love between us and the other beings. The more the sphere is widened, the less the gap becomes. In other words, our assimilation of love enables us to know God for it is the real key to open the doors of this great secret. When we say we are in love, what does it mean ? It means that among us, two people are ready to go any far to be in the company of each other and cannot think to live in the absence of either. In this instance, creation of love depends on existence of some specific persons. No doubt, such kind of love is great and is remembered in reverence by all, yet, this love is very tiny particle of a vast entity that is called love. This love is a part of that love but not the real love. Real love comes into the picture when we become love as whole and we submerge ourselves into love as river mingles into the ocean and becomes one with it once and for all. This is the stage of love when we cover the gap full and witness the whole universe as love itself without distinction, discrimination and colour. In fact, we transform into love itself. This is the stage when I , you and it lose their meanings because everyone and everything is love. To achieve this stage is scarce as we mortals remain divided over something or the other and that is why we grasp love in a very narrow sense and maintain a very wide gap between us and other beings, yet we pride ourselves on making love and spreading love. The person who inculcates in him a love free from all conditionings and prejudices will be the only qualified person to know God and not the one who is in worship of God 365 days and an outstanding scholar of a religion or religions. Love thus becomes God itself,no doubt.
Love appears to be a small word with great strength.
Intelligence is the ability to discern differences, similarities and identities.
This requires understanding -- deep understanding -- of the terms being used. Our human languages are built on physical phenomena, states and identities. They are ill-equipped for spiritual topics. That's why metaphor and similar devices are used so much in religion.
In the most spiritual sense of "love," yes God is "love." And also, love is God. Love, here, means a lack of separateness. Ego is separateness, so ego is not love. Ego is selfishness.
Whatever you do to the least of these, you do unto the Father in Heaven. That's love.

There was this very enticing and interesting question I read on the internet about people loving God. Specifically, why do everything in your power to please God when God is supposed to love you already; is supposed to accept you for who you are? I must say, people are selfish in terms of their own...

Why did you leave the church?I left the church, because of hypocrisy. I was tired of hearing the church called a place of love and healing when all of my interactions with Christians had been full of judgment and hurt. I learned there wasn't room in the church for me, because of my mental illness...
