What scripture gives you the most comfort and the one you stand on daily?
As we go through each day, there are Words from Christ that give us great comfort even in the face of so many tragedies.
I always turn to Psalm 30:5, it is a comfort and so, so simply stated.
I love this scripture too because despite what things we have to go through, we know that there will be joy in the morning. Great choice.
I, too, like the Psalms and the teachings of the Christ in red in the King James version. I also like St. Paul's quite a lot.
The sentence 'all scripture is written with the inspiration of God', is very real and very meaningful to me. So, for instance, I have read the Hindu scriptures, a little of the Koran; the Dharmapada of the Buddhists, Zen writings and many more.
My greatest comfort comes from service, like I'm doing now. My experience is that through prayer and meditation, the voice of the Spirit pushes the individual from within, in the cause of service to inspire and elevate mankind. Nothing is greater than Love; than sacrifice, and as the Soul grows in God, it becomes more and more meaningful to serve mankind, irrespective of one's religious beliefs.
Still, everything helps and so of course I read the christian scriptures, if that's what you mean, and the three I mentioned, are great blessings for instilling inner peace. Loving wishes and good night, my sweet friend.
I am by no means as well read as you my friend, but I love to study the scriptures of Jesus Christ. Jeremiah 33:3 is definitely one of my favorites where He invites us to call to Him and He promises to reveal mysteries that are great and mighty.
2 Chronicles 20:17 never ceases to amaze me. In my wildest dreams I could not have imagined that so much could be done by simply standing still. I have seen this scripture solve problems over and over again. Everybody has the urge and the instinct to run out and do something or fight the battles. It's a miracle to just stand still and watch God remove the problem or fight the battle without lifting a finger, just sing and praise God. If I had not experienced this directly, like Jehoshaphat, I would never have believed that could be done.
Sri T, you are so right: This is a powerful scripture if we would only follow it. I think we could eradicate worry if we did.
Monica M. I have so many favorites, but that is definitely one of them.
My favorite is Luke 17:21, actually the whole chapter, but you only asked for one so that is my one.
Being aware that the Kingdom of God is within us and believing it should help to make us love each other more and more.
You would think. Not so true around here though.
Wow, there are so many scriptures that I absolutely love and keep with me, that's it's difficult to name just one - there's no way I can. But I do recite the whole of Psalms 91 daily and I refuse to let a day pass without it God bless you.
I'm not even going to tell you my love for this Psalm. We keep making so many connections. (smile) I will say this: I absolutely love the part that says He will cover me with His feathers.
The shortest is the sweetest to me. Very Simple only two words but the Feeling that comes across for me transcends the very fabric of space and Time. John 11:35 Jesus wept.
This happens through out the Bible with other Teachers, Preachers, Evangelists, and Prophets, Judges. Its most important to me for GODs Don't Weep Or Do They?
The Avatar of GOD the Creator of everything Seen and Unseen Wept in Human Form because He was truly Human. He wept at the very Thought of what was coming soon to pass. Not because Lazarus was Dead but that he had called Him Back from Paradise where he waited in peace and Comfort.
But was called back into Hell to witness his Friend and his GOD's Death upon the cross. How hard must it have been to know you were made to do that to some one you loved.
To make them whiteness your death . When they Know and truly Love you because of the Place that Lazarus was called from was not sleep but from Paradise. And by virtue of his love of all mankind Jesus was persuaded to do so unto Lazarus.
Could you call someone being a human back into Hell I could or would not be able unless I knew the truth That Jesus must have known about Lazarus about The Future that was yet to come, and the outcome that would be. This verse makes me ponder and sometimes wept my self as I give it more and more in-depth thought.
The Love of a Man Did It rival the Love of a GOD? Is all Love humanly or Godly Equal? is not the greatest Gift Not LOVE? makes me think more than any other passage or verse has ever had. I had issues once that Jesus was Not a Human I no longer do.
What a beautiful account of that scripture. Your comment gives me a lot to think about concerning this scripture.

How important is biblical literacy? If we don't understand the origin or inspiration of great cultural works, will it still be possible to appreciate them? If not, have we lost something of value? Like many others who've posted here, I was raised Christian. I want my kids to...

Can a normal human rightfully claim that their interpretation of the Bible is the only correct one?Can this notion of "I am right and you are wrong" really exist in a healthy Christian? I am beginning to think that it cannot. It is becoming a little obvious that those who proclaim their...

Does anyone else feel that organized religion is built on a foundation of making you feel guilty?I feel that in order for an organized religion to run successfully it must be predicated on the fact that you must feel guilty on a number of levels. Guilty if you: 1. Aren't coming to church. 2. Don't...

I asked the question but yet, have my own answer. I am just curious as to what anyone else might think as well. From my perspective, I find it rather funny that even on a website directed mostly at adults that we find such a great deal of immature attitudes reflective of hatred towards us as...
