Which major world religion has the most disillusioned people?
Here is a list of the 10 biggest religions in the world: Judaism, Islam, Christianity, and Baha'ism practiced mainly in the West; Hindu, Buddhism, Jainism, Confucianism and Shinto in the East; and Sikhism, practiced mainly in the Middle East . Which one has the greatest number of people disappointed in their religion, thus leaving it? Which one has the greatest number of people satisfied with their religion?
One person can't answer this question. I doubt that one one person would have enough religious experience to know the answer. You have to ask it as a survey. You could ask "are you satisfied with your religion?" For me the answer is yes, and I'm a Christian.
According to one encyclopedia, there are currently 9,900 religions worldwide, some of which span the globe and have millions of members.
Snowman - I guess I should have stated it differently. I was hoping people from several religious backgrounds would answer.
But this religion is not in one division there are different Buddhism. Worshiped different ways around the world.
So true SM ,that is like saying which wine is the best when there are over a thousand varieties, we know religion is more then in the thousands.
Because people, worship different thing and deities .
The word you used SSTL disillusioned is considered your personal opinion.
Because most people that worship are not disillusioned no more then you are .
K & T - coming from a Christian country, the USA, I hear a lot about the church having a 63% dropout rate. I've also read that Buddhism is one of the fastest growing religions, currently. I read a little about Buddhism, and I find it makes more s
To SSTL that is how you learn the truth ,you read and learn. Until you receive a truthful answer , I too did reading on this religion, My problem was the date it came into existence, and idols involved in worship.
...sense than Christianity's story and practice.
Also the link people are getting info from is a free sight to right reports on any subject ,RJWilmsi has gathered his own sources of materials and has edited this material ,his report needs more editing because his sources are not said to be accurate
It's not easy to say because part of the equation to make it work is the person. It depends on that person's mind set, if they are open to the right understanding. Just like debunkers slam the psychics, healers or New Age thinkers because it doesn't work for them. It doesn't work for them because they don't believe it will work. So in that sense, it is working. Same with the Law of Attraction. Some people take off like a rocket and get the things they want, others say it's b.s. and don't get what they want. So the disappointment is inevitable because everybody doesn't have the same degree of faith or devotion. And some of it requires suspending logic, reason and the worldly programming in order for it to work. A miracle can never be logical. Can walking on water or bilocation be logical?
Also DS why would a person write a bad report about the them self to the public.
Why would you say negative information about yourself. And then lie on yourself too. First that is not their message. Some one who does not agree with message wrote that
SriT - it's one thing if people don't correctly practice a teaching. It's quite another when the teaching is faulty to begin with. Islam is constantly causing conflict, while Buddhism has no history of holy wars.
I too have written poems on Wikipedia ,and have edited them. You may find me under my name. Anybody can write ,but that does not make a true statement just because they write it ,the media or news proves that everyday, also in the celebrities lives.
Every religion will have good people and bad people in it. It is human. I have studied Buddhism and they have people who don't always live up to the high morals either. No religion is perfect, some have myths. You can only use what you can.
This is true ST Jesus had the experience of Judas ,did that change the truth because of his presence and actions, No life went on ,he lost his opportunity and relationship with the Son and Father to join the heavenly Government . terrible death.
According to Pew Research - http://www.pewforum.org/2012/12/18/glob … cape-exec/ There is a growing number of people leaving their religious affiliation. These statistics are from 2012 and you would need to find some more recent studies to compare these same polls with to determine which religion is "losing" the most adherents.
I think religion in general is losing its grip on a more educated and scientific population. At least I hope so.
Also when you explain a story tell all. The End of what is coming?, why did this person say this to you? Because pieces of a story can be part truth and lie when you leave important information out. This information may not be credible .so why say it
K&T - Your comment to this answer makes no sense. Are you trying to reply to someone else?
Simple what does the Bible say. Not what a man says .
Mathew 24:36
"Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father.
Who ever gave a date was not a Jehovah witness in truth.
WTF are you talking about? How does your quoting the bible have anything to do with the question being asked? "Which major world religion has the most disillusioned people?"
I already answered that question Austin ,if you had read the post earlier, my last answer has to do with ST , the you came along and ask why would they send that message .first they are not a church, next do not ask me questions and criticize
Austinstar - scientific advances are replacing religion. Some discoveries support religions; some go against it. In that way, religion is losing its grip.
DS you state they have leaders wrong again. Reference Bible Mt 23:10 Neither be called ‘leaders,’ for YOUR Leader is one, the Christ.
So you say church that is wrong , you say leader that is wrong, dates that some one made up is wrong too. 3 strike
Again, Austinstar - I researched as you stated, and have come across interesting findings.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Growth_of_religion
Baha'ism is the fastest growing, while Islam is losing as many members as it is gaining, so it may be the
Wow! This Baha'i religion has some great tenets. I can see why it is growing so fast. It appears to be pro humanity! Well, let's hope it keeps growing.
My vote is all of them have "disillusioned people". Many still hold onto their basic beliefs but are turned off by the politics or individuals within their organized religion.
Nevertheless the most disillusioned group of people are those who keep insisting the world is coming to an end on specific dates and once those pass by they're scratching their heads. Jehovah's Witnesses' alone have predicted the world would end in 1874, 1878, 1881, 1910, 1914, 1918, 1925, 1975, and 1984.
Since then (major religions) have steered clear of the "prediction business".
Also those splinter religious groups or cults that cut themselves off from the mainstay of society are likely have many disillusioned people mainly because they were more attracted to their "charismatic leaders" than they were to the religion itself. Once those leaders demonstrate questionable behavior the group falls apart.
You list dates of when people say the end is coming but did you list the name of the person who said it. That is like saying saying men say it is ok to kill ,but all men are not a part of that statement. Why do you think that message was given?
Kiss - He SAID that the Jehovah's Witnesses put the EOW info out there. It came from that church. Why do YOU think church officials would send out that kind of message?
Also to answer your question ,The message that Jesus gave at Reference Bible Mt 24:14 And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.
A new earth starts.
K&T These dates are a matter of record posted in JW "Watchtower" publication. The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society is directed by the (leaders) of the Jehovah's Witnesses. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watch_Towe … redictions
DashingScorpio - it sounds like you believe Christianity has the most disillusioned people.
Again DS your information is based off of some ones opinions and beliefs , from a report that is no way credible. I give you the scriptures you give me a report of an imperfect human.
This individual is not a Jehovah Witness as stated.
K&T, It sounds like you're not very familiar with the Jehovah's Witnesses Watchtower publication. It's the church's own magazine used to recruit new members as well as inspire existing members. The predictions were in them overtime. I saw the 197
That is where you are very wrong and informed DS I have family and I am associated with many. So you are talking to a person that know the truth. Again you are stating them as a church they are not. Your link is connected to anti none believers.
In my opinion all religious figures like the Buddha & Jesus etc we're all just normal people that became enlightened as to why we're here, & also what was wrong with all the other people on earth at the time....Then religions we're born concentrating on these people in history, & then far too much writings & teachings we're developed over the years....Buddhism & the Bible for example are far to complicated to work out for the average person, when instead the average person should be out practising being nice & kind caring individuals, until they see why their supposed to act & be that way....The reason their supposed to act that way (being kind caring etc),is because they give back the best feelings possible to ever receive....So reading about religions is a waste of time, compared to actually practising it in reality at every opportunity. :-).
Well I here what you are saying and I do agree with you that people must put being nice and kind . But do our children learn that Automatic ? Do people learn a language without assistance. These basics must be taught as well. And the bible is full.

The reason for this forum is that I was speaking to an acquaintance and they brought up that they think people should be forced to give up faith and all agree on one idea that we consider God. Which led me to the concept of one world religion, which is something I've heard of alot. EDIT

Maybe they think there is a war on Christian because there are more Believers in UFOs, Aliens, Sasquatch and Ghosts outnumber those who follow mainstream Religions. I except Religion, but don’t understand One World Religion. Then Yahweh said to Noah, 'Go into the ark. That would IDs God...
