What makes religionists highly incensed when different, even so-called opposing spiritual, ethical,
& moral views are presented? What makes such religionists contend that the bible is the only legitimate moral authority & what it presents is the only acceptable premise? Why can't such religionists accept that there are other moralities & premises that are also legitimate & acceptable?
I will answer generally.
On the one hand, for the truth to be true, it must be mutually exclusive. If it is true that the sky is blue, then the sky cannot be red, yellow or pink. When it comes to religion, logically speaking, this must also be true if we think about religion logically. So if way #1 is the way, then for it to be true path #2 can't, especially if the paths prescribe antithetical ideas.
On the other hand, people tend to think very differently when it comes to religion. That is, they "just believe" as a function of a number of factors. So when a threat to that viewpoint is posed, the reaction can often be unsettling because is some cases that belief has never been properly vetted.
This is what Jesus spent a lot of time doing to the "religious" folks of His time in the Bible. He basically told them "you guys have it wrong" and they responded violently. Indeed, the truth is a two-edged sword: it cuts away what is untrue and also painfully reshapes what you once had. Many people will find this offensive and threatening (as in the crucifixion).

Why Do Religious People Get So Angry At Atheists? When it comes to Atheism, most religious people get angry and even combative when it comes to this subject. I wonder why, especially in this day and age, one would feel anger towards another human being with a different perception/outlook/belief....

Why are religious believers so bothered by atheists? Why can't we all just let bygones be bygones? Why do some believers so vehemently and viciously oppose non-believers? Why do they care so much what other people do?

I am beginning to feel that some religionists, especially of the evangelistic bent are either blind, cannot read, have been forbidden to learn, are indoctrinated or live in constant subconscious fear. Of course the usual religious forum disclaimer applies. I luvs yers all!
