In a word, pride. The same thing that caused Satan's fall causes many of us to think that we somehow know better than God what is right and what is wrong. What is good and what is evil. Many today seem to think they are God instead of the one true Yahweh who is the Lord God alone. That's my take on it.

In Yoga philosophy, this is called Ignorance. In a manner of speaking, no one is to blame, really. It simply means that what may appear good and right to us, is only a veil, a cloud, a curtain. The multitude asked that Barrabas be freed and Christ crucified. They were not aware of His status.

Ignorance makes us think that we are separate; our own island; that we control our destiny; that the pull of the material is stronger than the wings of Love.

God is playing a divine and loving game, and the veil is sometimes necessary for us to grow. Ignorance appears in the form of inner weapons.

The devil is simply obstacles or impediments in our nature, which has not been touched by the Higher Light: Doubt, fear. insecurity, hatred, greed, anger, attachments, ego and lust. All else is a by-product of these mentioned ones. Much Peace to us all.

  Your comparison of the Buddhist sense of ignorance is a world apart from the Christian notion. In Yoga-Buddhism, ignorance is connected with attachment to the physical world which is viewed as temporal. The Buddhists have no god.

False pride or vainglory. Somehow we get to thinking that our normal healthy pride is bad. We forget to be proud children of God. We do not let our light shine. What a shame.
So we look elsewhere for our pride in ourselves. And the result is the wrong kind of pride and we indulge it.
The finest weapon against goodness is a lack of self esteem. That "I am ok" attitude and acceptance of who we are and we are perfect. Is the battle ground. OK leaves a gap where false pride can sneak in. We are exceptional is the mantra.
It is a wonderful truth in us. We must be humble but must maintain ourselves in our humility.
I look to the Lord. Not to myself but I will not let myself be corrupted.

  What is the right kind of pride. In Homeric Greece pride was great, but hubris was bad. Hubris as an extreme kind of unfounded arrogance. But then again those were times of Heroes and Losers. We live in the times of Saint and Sinners in a sense.

If we really understand Christianity in detail and not follow it passively, we realized the devil speak of in the bible, isn't necessary a demon, but might even be a god. We need to remember, not everything the bible speak of is true, the bible is full of false information. For example according to the bible, the earth is only 5000 years old, it is created by god in 7 days and god first created earth, then created sun. But we know for a fact, the earth is older then 5000 years, the sun was first form, then the 9 planet circling the sun was form, through the remaining dust, that didn't become a part of the sun.

1 John 2:22 [Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son.]

If u read the bible carefully, u realized Christianity show hostility to anything that don't submit to Christ or contradict the bible and claim for them to be evil, lie and demonic. So, when a scientists say the earth is over 5000 years old, according to the bible, he is evil and demonic and speak of lies.

So, not all of those who are evil, demons and speak of lies, within the bible, are truly evil. In fact in comparison, to them, Christ is frequently the evil one. For example, the bible teach Deuteronomy 22:20-22
[But if the thing is true, that evidence of virginity was not found in the young woman, then they shall bring out the young woman to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones, because she has done an outrageous thing in Israel by whoring in her father's house. So you shall purge the evil from your midst.]

So, before we simply accept what Christ refer as demon and evil, to be the true demon and evil and Christ is the representative of good, in comparison to it, we do need to think for ourself first, is such anti christ really evil? Or is Christ the real evil here?

There is NO DEVIL. The devil is an image invented by humankind to rationalize the more negative aspects of nature & even the supernatural. Humankind see the devil is the epitome of the darker side of life & nature. Humans even view the devil as representing the more negative, even evil side of themselves.

Religionists used the devil to represent the more carnal, uncivilized aspect of humanity. To them, whatever isn't considered sacred or spiritual was relegated to the evil, even demonic. The devil was used to symbolize the more unbridled & worldly. The devil was also used by religionists to scare the masses & to consolidate more power & sway over them. The devil was a tool used by religionists to have the masses live in fear & utter conformity to religious dictates.

Religionists are also fond of using the devil to keep the more naïve, gullible, & other fearful into powerless submission & blind obedience. To religionists, people who exercise their power & have a sense of self are caving in to the demonic. After all to religionists, the devil is the sign of rebellion & self & anyone who exhibits such characteristics are aligned to the devil.

The devil was used by religionists to scapegoat others whom they are suspicious of, are different, &/or refuse to conform to certain, prescribed paradigms. Religionists from the early Christian era on, were fond of demonizing different belief systems & fractions of different belief systems within Christianity. In the Dark Ages, heretics, Jews, Pagans(who were castigated as witches) were viewed as aligned with the devil because they didn't subscribe to the prescribed religious paradigms of the day. The result of this was persecution of such peoples because religionists viewed the former as "doing the devil's work."

Even today, religionists view many aspects of modernity & progress as veering away from God & playing into the hands of the devil. They even assert that because of increasing modernity & progress that societies will eventually be destroyed. They further interject such hyperbole as the so-called Anti-Christ, 666, the rapture & tribulation as a subterfuge, asserting that the world is increasingly being "ruled by the devil".

The greatest, and possibly the only weapon that "devil" is using are those who made him up and advertised him. Without them, he would have never outgrown the status of a boogie-man.

It may take a couple of more millennia - if stupidity in us allows us to survive that long - to wake up to the reality of mass hypnotism applied upon us by those in whose interest it is to keep us in dark. Boogie-man was invented by parents for an easier manipulation of misbehaving kids - but who would ever think that some people would never grow out of it in their adulthood, with this need to replace him with something like "devil".

Indeed, fear is playing strange tricks on us, and it becomes truly pathetic when it hijacks our sense of rationality.

This depends on the person, and I say this each of us has different weaknesses in which the devil can use against us. We need to take into consideration in appearance the devil is not ugly, but very appealing to the eyes. When the devil was cast out of Heaven he was the most beautiful angel. Therefore, if it is pride, money, or lust is the individuals weakness that causes them to sin then the devil will take the necessary form to cause them to sin. Therefore, there is no one effective tool that the devil uses against us.

the devil is omnipotent, but he has to entice people and he can only do it by something that allures a man. I feel the devil will first try and entice a man and then a woman will follow. To entice a man he will try and give the maximum pleasure to a man in the form of desire for a younger girl.

In Hindu mythology there are hundreds of examples when a devil enticed men with women and dance . This is the favorite weapon of the devil as he will pander to a latent desire of most men for love, sex and companionship of a younger woman. Generally, such pleasures are transient and once the Devil has the man in his mesh he will possess his soul. So the the devil's forte is pandering to a baser desire of man.

Devils who look and sound like Angels. For instance, if someone with power and authority tells you need need to take into your home and adopt the ways of aliens who hate Christianity, and who beat their wives and who abandon their mothers to an approaching army, that's satanic advice. His greatest weapon? Satan's greatest weapon? Satan is powerless.

He has no weapons. He is a liar and a user but he has already been defeated by Jesus Christ, his creator and he knows it.

Nothing he can do can be considered a weapon against God who is his only Nemisis, the inescapable agent of his downfall.

He is all bluster and the only power he has over anyone is the power that person gives him. Sure he uses tactics like deceit, Pride (Deuteronomy 8:11-17) (Isaiah 14:12-15; Ezekiel 28:14-17; 1 Timothy 3:6). Envy, the kind of envy that is a distorted, selfish sense of fairness, Lust for forbidden pleasures, Itching ears, Disappointment, Discouragement, Doubt, Division... all devices, not weapons. Devices that are ours, and he uses them.

Satan is powerless, WE are our own worst enemies. To say he has a weapon gives him too much credit and implies that he has power.

But of course someone is going to disagree with me, with the truth and so be it. In that case I don't wish to appear argumentative so if they must have an answer, if I have to concede Satan does have a weapon, I'll just say from a worldly perspective one could say the evidence points to the Modern Democrat Party which he is using to destroy America and by so doing bring the world to its knees.

Do I hear an AMEN?

Amen.

Satan has used one single weapon against all humanity, which is the mother lode of all other pieces of his weaponry and that is LETHARGY.

Lord only needs our beliefs to be accompanied with "obedience" and an inactive and lethargic 'believer' can never obey the Lord's decree.

Many more. The DEVILS are around us and within them. The dilemma between good and evil is really more relevant to the realm of psychoanalysis than positing them to exterior manifestations. Such things as having "spirit" or a "soul" are profound subjects of the human psyche. Until such time as we can incorporate good and evil as aspects of the psyche, we remain in a state of infancy. Exteriorizing good or bad aspects of our inner-selves just seems to allay the fact that we are in fact control of our own destiny. There seems to be no end to exteriorizing elements of ourselves that seem incomprehensible, but, as a species, we owe it to ourselves to at least accept the possibility that our minds are sufficiently complex to absorb this dichotomy. We have to accept that everything we know and understand originated from the human mind -- all of its conceptions, perceptions, cognitions. If we cannot do that task, we'll forever remain primitive and prone toward projecting our fears, superstitions, hatreds upon others, and thus remain a global group of tribes.

Definitely illusion/lying. Lying that he is a God, or God full stop. As 'God' that most Christians worship today could infact be the devil merely keeping people on Earth in blind worship.
"A woman who fears the Lord is to be praised" Proverbs 31:30. He makes people worship him through fear, something that I see in the bible occasionally and the mentality most of the Christians I know have.
Why does God have to make people fear him? Would a loving father want that? What about respect him instead? Fear is for a more life threatening scenario, such as running from a predator, or being cautious of evil near by.
So deceit is perhaps the best weapon the Devil could use; for people who are scared are more easily deceived.

I think the devil in your picture looks like a rather dapper chap. He's certainly a snappy dresser!

Also, looking at your very enchanting and attractive image, I think it might be worth following him if he'll teach me how to keep a desk as clear as that!

Hello. One thing that is a Big weapon that he uses is what I explain here:

This is such a piece of crappy freakin' lying made perfect by the Devil himself, as the wording is so grand. Ugh! As Christians we are to know, eat & drink, as well as sleep & walk the following: Psalms 23rd Chapter, that clearly outlines in the last verse"Surely Goodness AND Mercy Shall Follow Me All The Days Of My Life: and I will Dwell In The House Of The Lord forever."

The greatest tool for devil is the "Ambition". Human is greedy. The more he gets, the more he wants. So if anyone offers me that he can give me thousands of bucks if i sign the deal for him, I would probably do that. Because the ambition will run me towards virtue. And then all the shit happens!

Great question - thank you for asking.

I believe the devil is the greatest marketer and knows our individual frailties and capitalizes upon our weaknesses. For some, it is greed, for others pride, for others, it some take deception. I like to think the deception would be his main weapon but sadly it appears hatred is the easiest to manipulate mankind.

All of these sins alienate us from God, we must always be in watch. Praying daily, reading our Bible, memorizing Bible verses is something each of us has the power do each day. Praying in a restaurant before a meal is just as important as reading the Bible to children. Developing family traditions that lay a foundation to look and trust in God is I feel the job of every parent, every adult. We must leave a legacy that showcases our faith. After all, we are called to preach the saving grace of Jesus Christ. He lives and if you know/believe in your heart, call upon the Lord and he will send his holy spirit to be with you.
