      Hi

I hope I am doing this correct.  This is my first reply.  I do not use a rosary but i DO SAY "hail Mary...."  I love saying it but I do not experience what you are experiencing.  I believe your experience is great.  Keep it up. Love and peace.

That's cool Scarlet.  I don't say the Rosary much lately but I used to lead one in a chat room a while back.  I thought I smelled roses a couple of times but I could have been imagining it.

The Rosary is a prayer and it is made to mary the mother of Jesus.  It is a way for Catholics to pray away their sins.

WOW!!! You've been in the marines for 20 years, and more then likely have been or know someone who has been at war or in some sort of dreadful situation and you've NEVER seen or heard of a Rosary?  Stop putting Scarlett Ryan on for the purpose of starting a debate.  I'm Lutheran and I've seen people do the Rosary.  Certainly in your outstanding world, you have too.

This is a nice thread topic Scarlet.  If you write a Hub about the Rosary you might want to include some of the gifts that have been acquired from praying it.  Actually with this you could make it a series of Hubs.  Not many realize why the Communists left Austria without force in the 1950s.  But the people of Austria do, about a tenth of the population prayed the Rosary daily so they'd leave.  We have a good mother and we can always ask her to pray for us.  There are a lot of stories about what has been obtained from praying the Rosary.  Here's some research material if you want to include it in your Hubs.
      http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&c … &meta=

Let us know if you write about the Rosary.
      Mike

PS I had heard that Elvis Presley sang a song about Mary and the Rosary so a while back I searched Youtube to see if anyone had uploaded it but I couldn't find it then.  But I just found it.

The Rosary is prayers said on a pair of Rosary Beads.

The first prayer is said holding the cross.

You make the sign of the cross first

You then say the Lord's Prayer

Then you say the Glory to the Father Prayer

Then you say the Apostles creed Prayer

Then you say Oh my Jesus forgive us our sins Prayer

On the first three beads you say 3 Hail Mary's

Then you say the our Father

Then you say 10 Hail Mary's on the 10 beads

You continue right around the beads till you arrive

        back at the cross.

Maybe i will create a hub to better explain how to say

        the Rosary.Watch this space.

        Thankyou for your interest.

        Kindest Regards

        Scarlet Ryan 1970

p.s. The whole Rosary takes exactly 40 minutes to complete.

Everyone is different, and everyone experiences the presence of holy beings in different ways. While praying the rosary, not everyone smells or tastes roses. God chooses to touch people in different ways.

For those that may not be aware of this fact, Martin Luther continued to pray the Rosary even after the reformation.  He was devoted to the Blessed Virgin.  It was through Calvinism that brought the attacks on Mary, the mother of Jesus and it has increased substantially since then.  God wants to make known throughout the world the devotion to the Blessed Virgin.  Eventually her Immaculate Heart will triumph through love.

Wow cool post Make Money. That was a good read. and yes I went to catholic school too and we would say the rosary for meditation as well as a whole with the school. We actually even made a human rosary and I got to be a part of it once. we made construction paper links and I got to help hold it. it was cool.

The rosary is not mandatory but it's a way and means of attaining world peace.  Our Lady of Fatima asked for us to pray the rosary as a means to this end.  If you grew up in the 50's and went to Catholic school you were taught to pray the rosary every day.  I, for one, am well past my prime and to this day still say my rosary.  I may not say one every day now but I try to get one said daily after my novena to St. Jude and novena to St. Therese.  I have posted both novenas in my hubs.  But my very first prayer of the day is to the Almighty in thanksgiving for another day to do his will.

God bless you bearnmom.  You probably remember watching the black and white version of the Warner Brothers production of The Miracle of Our Lady of Fatima from the 1950s like me.  Well now it has had color put to it and has been uploaded to YouTube in 12 parts.
Miracle of Our Lady of Fatima

Stimp there is a possibility that Scott hadn't heard of the Rosary.  Well whether he had or not I certainly didn't mind posting the two Hubs by Sweeps Luck and MM Del Rosario on how to pray the Rosary.

Stimp I'm just curious, do Lutherans pray the Rosary?  The reason why I ask is because I know Martin Luther was devoted to Our Lady and prayed the Rosary himself.

Lutherans do not pray the Rosary.

My mom's rosary is hanging the cross that was on her casket.  I was raised strict catholic (no longer practice it).  I don't remember learning the rosary 35 years ago, I do remember being told to say the Our Father and Hail Mary and a load of other prayers after confession and I hadn't done anything wrong.

He/She is right....Lutherans don't pray the Rosary.  However, I have seen it done and have been shown the basics by my mom who was a raised catholic.  She, I believe, still has hers.

Any auditory or olfactory symptoms (hearing or smelling symptoms) are a sign of brain dysfunction. Have you had checks for epilepsy or other 'nervous' disorders? You may be hyperventilating or becoming hysterical when saying the rosary. I advise you see a doctor if these pathological symptoms occur often, or take a good brisk walk.
Any type of meditation eg saying the rosary or any other mantra can cause hallucinations if not done correctly.
