Is there a concept of sin? Is there such a thing as sin? Is sin morally relative to the person or the period one lives in? Is sin an artificial construct thought of by religious authority figures to control & demolish individuality? Lastly, is sin now an OUTMODED concept which is irrelevant to the postmodern, 21st century?
Sin is, in my opinion, when your actions do not take into account their effect on yourself and others, in such a way as they are detrimental.
With the current focus on selfishness and greed it could be seen as outmoded.
If you add up all the sins in the Bible, then you know nobody is going to make to heaven. I welcome you all to the hot nightclub in hell.
America's top 8 worst sins
1. adultery 94% of the 1,010 adultery 2. second place, at 90%, “cheating on your taxes.”
3. Having an abortion, but with only 57% calling it wrong.
4. Engaging in homosexual behavior, at 50%.
5.Viewing porn
6 legalizing marijuana 35% of people in this survey considered it to be wrong.
7.Couple lives together as a married couple without actually being married, 32%.
8. Drinking ranked at the bottom, at 16%.
Just change sins to mistakes, then make adjustedments to them.
Castlepaloma saved just you.
I don't know castle. I'll agree on adultery being a sin. Because it hurts someone. 94 % is a number someone pulled out of a hat.
Taxes, I don't remember that being a biblical sin.
The bible says nothing about abortion and mosaic law doesn't give the unborn the same footing as a breathing person. But, if it hurts any breathing person than it would classify.
Porn, maybe. But not addressed in the Bible.
Homosexuality, not addressed by Jesus. If God incarnate didn't find reason to address it then who are we to judge?
Legalizing marijuana, not addressed in the Bible.
Couples living together, if committed don't need a piece of paper. I don't remember Jesus commenting negatively when conversing with the woman by the well.
Drinking, Jesus drank so enough said.
No action, in itself,is sin. How it affects you and those around determines whether it is good or bad. You choose to see sin where none may exist. That,in itself, can be considered sinful.
This is a CNN survey.
You know many Christians are Hippocrites. They rarely read the bible, and they make sins up.
Peewee!! I should have recognized you. Everything makes so much more sense now.
You give me a silly response, I'll give you a silly answer.
Give me an intelligible one and we're in business.
I don't guess I am. Maybe so. I identify as a Christian but I don't think the words in the book are as important as what you do with them. And, Christ should be our only example. The benchmark of the meaning. If you can't align what you think the meaning was through the example of his life I assume you got it wrong.
In order for me to be honest and do no harm. My code of ethics will not allow me to subscribed to the world champion of war- Christians., Also their hogposh of conflicts between love/sex.. Their exasperated false promises, their extreme illusions, of their imaginary friends. Hitler was born and died a Catholic. Hitler thought he was doing God a service by stomping out gays, jews and atheist. I never hear of wars in the name of atheist nor agnostics.
I'm more christ like than most Christians, alot of you will be going to hell for your sin. I don't make sins, only mistake that are corrected.
By your posts on this site....you might rethink what 'Christ like' constitutes.
I will point out it is the West which has done more to pull the world up from poverty than any other system, prior to it's existence. If you have such little respect for a system which rose from judeo christian values, how about enlightening everyone as to why that is the system which has done the most good.
Someone once said every time you point a finger at someone else, you're pointing three back on yourself. Sounds about right here.
There is a slow change of a new way of thinking happeing. Wrote a new thread on it.
Saw the thread. Non affiliation with a religious sect does not equate to non belief. You are misunderstanding.
I don't trust a onesided system that allows 99℅ judeo/Christians congress . All Presidents a 100℅ Christians to run our lives. When a quarter of the population is non religious with no say for ourselves or the national environment earth that turning to a gaint ball of Sh*t.
In this system ( can't speak for Canada) everyone has a say and everyone who is qualified and desired by the voters can take part in government.
Only one in a 1000 of non religious can ever make it to high office. They are slaves for now, that is rapidly changing.
I guess that would depend on your belief.
Through faith, we , Christians, strive to understand the God norm. This determines what sin is for us: As defined by God, the Creator of all.
If one chooses to use human understanding, then sin would be relative to one.
Humans have a tendency to get familiar with - and accepting of - what happens often, this becomes a "norm" where degrading morals continue to become worse and standards are dropped.

What does the New Testament say about divorce and remarriage? Is there any ambiguity in what Jesus and Paul said that might point to different interpretations? (Can Scripture have multiple interpretations, and, if so, who's right?)And further, why do divorce and remarriage get a relative pass from...

Does it state in the Bible that we are all born in sin, and if so I thought Jesus died for our sins?OK I was reading in a study Bible study book the other day that stated we are all born in sin. If that is true how is it that Jesus died for all our sins (which lasts forever) and how can a baby be...

Does a Christian woman have a biblical right to divorce her emotionally abusive husband? Is emotional abuse a valid reason for a person to get a divorce? Or should the spouse believe for a supernatural transformation?

Do you believe that the concepts of SIN and EVIL are a man-made religious concepts used asa guilt inducing means to control the masses and making them subservient to a religious authority? Or do you strongly believe that sin and evil exist in ACTUALITY and REALITY?
