Why didn't John the Baptist follow Jesus as a Disciple?

    Do you find it odd that John the Baptist didn't follow Jesus as a Disciple? John the Baptist knew full well Jesus was the Christ at Jesus baptism. I have always wondered about this. If he had done so, John may have lived much longer and later became an apostle.

    And why didn't Jesus ask John to follow Him after Jesus baptism, given the fact  that Jesus and John the Baptist were related to each other.

      No one truly knows the answer to that but in my opinion,  John is possessed by Lucifer.  Or he is lucifer in his human form
