Of all the arguments and points of discussion; truth seems to be the primary objective. Everyone claims a truth, but no one defines a truth. Perhaps there are different truths or, perhaps there is no truth and all is subjective. If that is the case then truth does not exist. It was Sextus Empiricus who in the 2nd century CE who may have gotten it right.

Simply but POWERFULLY put, the truth "IS!"
If you cannot understand that, you truly have a problem.
If you do understand it....congratulations!   :-)

I do have a problem, but perhaps you can help me.  You state truth "IS", my question, truth is what?, and at what point can you verify this to give it credibility at all.  Who verifys the verifyiers and so on?

I am reminded of the line, 'If you tell a lie long enough it becomes a truth. How does that reconcile with your statement?

I disagree Mr Cj it only becomes a shadow of truth...a lie is a lie.

A lie is a lie and is always a lie. It doesn't matter how many times you tell it or who you tell it to, it is still a lie. If everyone in the world believed the lie except for one or two people, it is still a lie.

Truth is that which is separated from false, death, nothing or darkness,
shows the absolute nature of  both light and darkness and can differentiate the nature of all things whether they be good or evil.

    What is truth?

    Hi friends

Truth is what is not mythical and is supported by Science if it pertains it a physical or temporal phenomenon and/ or else is supported by the Word of Creator- God Allah YHWH, for things ethical, moral and spiritual. Science is the Work of God Allah YHWH and Revelation is Word of God Allah YHWH. Since these are from one source, if correctly understood, they should not be contradictory.

    Thanks

      Ahmadi
How do I know that which is not mythical? For the jew, the christian, the hundu or the atheist allah is mythical and what is mythical, as you say, is not truth.
Why is it important to identify, as a peaceful muslim? Are not your actions sufficent or that you identify, as a muslim; is your belief a greater truth then the jew or the christian and if it is more truthful or the only truth, how do you arrive at that?

        Hi friend cjhunsinger

One dimension of "peace" is not to be in doubt or to be skeptical. I follow Quran which is a Revelation or Word from the Creator- God Allah YHWH, without doubt. With it all the Revealed Religions have been revived on Truth; I don't follow it blindly but with brilliant arguments mentioned in it. Quran mentions its claims and reasons in its text and the context; hence I am in peace.

        Thanks

Thank you for your comments--What brillant arguements do you speak of? What truth do you speak of that one cannot question?

Can we go Post Modern here and say that there are many 'truths' and all of them 'true' at some point.  Is the Truth, the truth if enough people believe it?

                   OR

    Is the 'Truth' out there?

Truth is never without, it is always within.

All things external are mere images not truth itself.

      Hi friend Kathryn LJ

Truth is like sun; which is always there yet it rises every morning and lightens everybody.

Truth is dynamic and flexible; it is not static.

      Thanks

The sun is currently here, but changing--it was not always here and will not always be here. The sun does not rise. I would agree however, that truth is not a static, but evolving and so the belief in gods. There was Ra and Zeus, Isis and osiris, today is jesus, allah, god and some others. Tomorrow; well perhaps, just the State.

    Hi friends

Truth is one name of the Creator- God Allah YHWH; and one of his several attributes. Those who don't believe in Him; they would not believe in Truth also; they themselves call themselves as  Sceptics; only there they are truthful, being always in doubts and confusion.

    Thanks

It would seem that truth is whatever you say it is. No wonder we kill it other. So much for the capacity to reason. I think we would be better off swinging from trees.
