~~UPDATE~~
Mama just called me from the doctor's in Atlanta and we have the news.
She has to go in for a scan to find out in more detail what they are dealing with but It is surgery regardless. They can't put a stent in because the whole valve needs to be replaced. This is sucking big time. If I wasn't petrified before I sure as hell am now.
Thank you so much for the update, Pinkylee. I know surgery wasn't what you were hoping to hear, but it may be the best thing that has ever happened for her. Both of you are surrounded with people who love and care for you. Well wishes are streaming in from all over the world (think about all the friends here at HP) for Lynne to have a quick recovery. Take care and give her a big hug from us all.
Thank you KCC and It is that love and support from all of our friends here on HP that is helping me get through. Though I would be lying if I said I wasn't scared to death. I know this may be the best thing for her and I am hoping that all will go well. If all goes well she will only have to stay in the hospital for up to 10 days. I am keeping everything crossed that I can as well as trying to keep positive thoughts.
I don't chat with Lynne very often, but I'm praying that everything goes well with her health procedures.
i will me thinking of your mum and the whole family, and be looking for more updates.
Pinky is right, I'm not on here much anymore with all that is facing me, but I am reading and soaking up all the prayers and hugs you guys have given over the past few weeks.
The news today really stunned me and I tried to lay down assimilating it all. It is hard to do when you are facing open heart surgery and have no means in which to pay for it. I'm hoping to find some relief within the hospital itself and their financial assistance program but the surgery will take place long before the paperwork really goes through.
Again, I want to thank all of you for your continued thoughts and prayers and hugs. They mean the world to me.
A flower for your Lynne. I think it's always nice when you start your day off with flowers, a good reminder that there are still sweet things in your life.
Ah those are really nice and one of my favorite colors, thanks a bunch!
Mama I love you so very much and I will be here every step of the way! I am thankful that things didn't work out in Arizona as so I could be here with you to help take care of you.
Get well soon, my friend! I just don't know what the answer is to needing life-saving treatment without the means (or insurance) pay for it. I'm in the same boat, myself--being self-employed I have no medical insurance, and so should anything happen to me, I'd be in exactly your same boat. Maybe I can do a little research on what's available out here and email you the results.
Wow!! look at the color in that image!
Lynne, so glad to see you here in the thread. You know we miss you! We'll continue to send good thoughts and vibes your way!
You and Pinkylee take care!
I want to thank everyone for their continued support and outpouring of love well wishes. It means more to us than any of you can even imagine. Thank you from the bottom of our broken (soon to be fixed) little hearts
Wow, what an amazing display of flowers! Thank you guys so much. I'm just overwhelmed with emotions right now and can't really express how much this means to me.
Just thought I would update you guys. We now have the cardiac catheratization scheduled for the end of next week and once that is done the surgery will be scheduled.
Thank you all again for your prayers and thoughts in this scary time.
Lynne and Pinky - Thinking positive thoughts for you both! I did not have a cardiac cath last year but had a renal angiogram and angioplasty to my renal arteries that were closing off. I was terrified because I've never been sick a day in my life - and my hypertension was misdiagnosed.
As long as you have good doctors, you should be in good hands. I was so fortunate to have caught mine in time and it sounds like you did as well.
All positive and healing thoughts flying to you from Central Oregon for a positive outcome.....keep us posted for sure.
P.S. I'd like to string up all the 'professionals' that make these screw-ups and misdiagnoses, but in the long run, I guess they are only 'human' and the fact of the matter is, as long as we get help and get cured - we have to be thankful for that, I guess!
Thank you! I know what you mean though. Had been seeing a doc and she kept saying everything I was experiencing was due to my low thyroid which isn't that low as it turns out. Switch docs and bam they find a aneurysm that is 5.1cm plus a very low score on my blood count which turned out to be a B12 anemic deficiency.
I wish I could blame her for not finding it sooner or running more tests but like you said they are just human and she thought the thyroid was the cause.
TY KateKarmin also and everyone else here that has said prayers and left well wishes along the way. Pinky will keep you all informed once I go in for the surgery. Keep her in your thoughts I think she might be a bit more freaked out than me, lol if that is possible.
God will see you through this, we are all with you, praying fervently.
I actually want to thank all of you again for your love and support. We now have this ball rolling and it is scaring the piss out of me. Like mama said I might be a bit more freaked out than she is. You all are amazing.
Ok, a bit freaked out but going in to have the cardiac cath done tomorrow morning. I know everything will be fine.
Thank you all again for your thoughts, prayers, and hugs they mean a lot.
You're welcome Lynne!
(((((HUG)))) and positive thoughts always.
Thank you for being there for us Cags. It really does mean a lot. **hugs**
((((HUG)))) Pinkylee. You're welcome. Btw- do away with that foolish looking avatar...you are not stockard channing.
Dang it cags i like giving the impression I'm mean lmao ... you are blowing it for me.
What a battle! Oh, Lynne and Pinky, do take care of each other-I know that sounds trite, but you have an obviously strong and special bond.
The freaking out is so awful. But it's verrrry natural, of course!
Many (((hugs))) to the both of you.
Yeah it has been quite the battle. I am just happy Terry and I moved back home when we did because I would not be able to handle being 1800 miles away from here right now more than ever. I love my mama with everything I got (which ain't much) I need her in my life. She is above all my best friend and always there for me. I am freaking out as well with so many things going through my head it ain't even funny.
Thank you so much for the hugs and good wishes Lorlie.
many thoughts and prayers headed your way
happy ones
Hope all goes well with your mother
sometimes it helps to do a little research at the john hopkins university site - saved my mother in law from being over medicated - and docs second opinions also - Best wishes to you and yours
At this point we are just hoping that we are on the right track to getting her fixed. I am so afraid of this surgery I can't even think straight. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
I think you guys will be okay! After all, Ya'll are Georgia girls, and they are tougher than a lighterd knot! (yankees don't have a clue what this means) LOL!
Best of luck!
Randy
I'm sending truckloads of more good wishes and positive thoughts your way! Both of you take care of each other. I just know everything is going to go well for you. Keep us posted!
I will def. keep you all posted. Mama will not be back home until friday night or saturday morning. She is going to stay with my grandparents until she is a bit better from the scan. Thank you for your continued support in this scary time of our lives
Best of luck and positive thoughts to you guys - Lynne- we are sending you those healing vibes. Hope all goes really well and you're up and at it soon!
~~ update ~~
The cath scan went really well, there are no other blockages and the surgery could be scheduled as early as monday or tuesday if her doctor has an opening then.
She is staying at my grandparents for the night so she won't be here til tomorrow or saturday. Thank you all for your love and support throughout this whole thing.
That is very good news! I'll continue to keep you gals in my thoughts.
You guys are all so special to me! Just got home and jumped on here first thing. As much as everyone gets tired of some of the drama that goes around the site, it really is a blessed place to have landed with my hubs. Nothing better than the friends that are here on this site to perk one up.
Now, let me tell you if you ever have to have this procedure done for any reason don't fret over it. It was easy peasy and mmmm...let me just say the eye candy that was in and out of my room was well worth it.
Piedmont Fayette Hospital was the best place I've ever been and since it is affiliated with the hospital where I will have the aneurysm repaired I can only hope my stay there is as pleasant a one as yesterdays. I know the surgery is still scary but with a clean cardiac cath my mind is much more at ease.
Thank you all again for the thoughts, hugs and prayers they mean so very much to both Pinky and me.
Awwwwww....I'm so glad things went well for you. I just knew they would. Eye candy, huh? That's always a plus!!!
Keep us informed as things progress. You know you're both in my thoughts often! ((((Hugs))))
Got the surgery scheduled for the 19th of this month. Got to go in and do pre-op this Thursday so everything is moving along.
I'm so glad we are in the final stages of this.
I will not be near a computer until that Friday night and will update everyone then.
Well tomorrow is the day. It's been a long few months and I just wanted to say that I really appreciate everyone of you here. Your comments have brought smiles, hugs, and a few tears. I can't thank you enough.
I'll be away from the computer for about three weeks as I'm going to my parents to recover a bit more before actually coming home after the surgery. Pinkylee will keep you updated as to how the surgery went and all.
Again, thank you!
I want to thank all of you for your love, support, well wishes, thoughts, and prayers. Please continue to send good thoughts our way as mama goes through her open heart surgery tomorrow morning(Thursday). I have never felt so much love and support from an online group of friends as I have from all our friends here at HP.
I will return on friday to update you all as to how the surgery went as my mama has said.
Again thank you all for everything. Talk soon
Love,
pinkylee
My prayers goes with you and your family and your MOM pinkylee!
Hi lynne and pinky, just wanted to leave you with a quote that speaks to me. "Out of the deep depths of misfortune come bliss." Sending positive thoughts and prayers for a smooth procedure tomorrow.
Hey Pinkylee,
Positive thoughts...keep them and know I'm around for you, and your mom.
Good thoughts for you both, PInky! Lynne will be okay, sure as grits are groceries!
Pinky please let Lynne know you guys will continue to be in my thoughts. I'm sending Texas-sized positive thoughts your way! Lynne is going to feel so much better after all of this, I just know it.
(((Hugs))))
~~~UPDATE~~~
Mama had her surgery yesterday morning. We were told it would only take about 4-6 hours at 9 that morning. They took her back at 7 like planned and by 11 they came and told us that she was done. When we talked to the doctor he informed us that it was a good thing they found the aneurysm because when he actually got in there the bubble was damn near bursting. He said she would not have lived out the rest of 2010 if not for this surgery.
She is doing very well. Came off the breathing machine with no problems at all and is planned to be in a room before the night is out tonight. It will be a painful and long recovery but She is alive and that's all I care about.
I have been an emotional wreck the last few months and from the bottom of m little heart I want to thank each and everyone of you for all of your well wishes, prayers, love, and support it means way more than any of you can possibly imagine. You all are in our hearts forever and always.
Thank you so very much.
That is fantastic news, Pinkylee! I'm so glad things went well on Lynne's surgery and that you were able to catch this in time. I know it's been such an emotionally draining ordeal for you both. Hopefully, she can now heal and you can begin to relax a bit. Thanks for letting us know. Give Lynne a hug for me when you see her.
It HAS been a long stretch for you and your mother, hasn't it...
So glad to know she's done with the surgery. Wishing her a fast recovery.
Nice news Pinky.
A lot of relieved friends here I reckon.
Give ya mom my love, and keep some for yourself, I'm sending plenty for both of you.
Pinky,
I am very glad that this was caught in time and that she is going to be okay. hugs and happy thoughts to everyone.
Mama is doing very well ... so well in fact they are releasing her from the hospital either tomorrow or wednesday... two days sooner than we figured it would be!! I'm so excited
Wooooo hooooo! That is VERY good news! She's probably been pinching too many male nurses on the butt. I'm so glad to hear she's doing well. Give her my well-wishes.
How are you doing? Feeling better now that mom is sorted out?
Today has been a great day! My mama is finally home from the hospital and doing so well. She is staying at my grandparents until labor day weekend so it will be a lot easier to see her. I'm so happy they found this and were able to fix her!!! Thank you to everyone that has been there for me through all of this
omg, that's wonderful pinky. im so happy for you.
Well I just sent another good thought your-alls way.
Great news , I will continue to keep your mum in my prayers and I am sure she will have tremendous hub prayer support.
Great result Pinky, thanks for letting us know. We can all feel good about it now!
In what is absolutely the LAST thing I and what family I have left need to hear at this point in time - my father is back in the hospital with sepsis. He's been fighting an infection in the bones of his foot for ten years now, he is severely diabetic...and they're finally going to amputate his...
Dang. We need to buy stock in our local hospital. Hubby got out of CCU just a couple of weeks ago, my son-in-law had to have an appendectomy last week, and two of my daughters are there now. One has been admitted for pyelonephritis, and the other has been in the ER for seven hours with severe...
Earlier this evening, my daughter went to the ER because she was having terrible stomach cramps. When I arrived, she was in a hospital bed holding a dead baby. It was a perfectly formed, beautiful baby girl, about 10 inches long. I didn't even know she was pregnant. We're all heartbroken. I can't...
I wasn't sure where to make this post. I thought maybe I should just pop it under the food thread but it seemed cowardly. I considered posting it under the health section, but that felt like admitting defeat. I thought of posting this in the christian living forum, but was too certain it would...
