I agree with him.
Buddha need not abondon his wife and child for his whole life to meditate; there is no wisdom in it. Do you agree?
Thanks

I would say, each is own. If that's the way he chooses to do it then so be it. Who are we to judge?!
I mean for real! It is so easy to criticize others when we have no idea what is 'really' going on. What their destiny was meant to be and for what reason things were the way they were with him. Besides for what we read. And that keys us in to a lot about his life if one picks up the book and reads the holy books. There is a ton of good in it all and some not so good. That goes with all the holy books and amazing prophets!
Can we leave it at that or should we criticize?
Hi friend Kimberly Bunch
Buddha did not say what the Buddhists believe. Is it bad to search for reality and truth and to know what is 'really' going on ?
Thanks

I am not agaisnt Buddha;please don't get me wrong. What I am telling is that the story related about Buddha's life by Buddhists is a fiction story. A man like Buddha cannot even think about such an immoral thing of not caring about his wife and children
Paarsurrey! Why are you so hung up on other religions? I know you may mean well... whatever it is... but some could take your posts to be putting down other religions!
If you are muslim then why would you care what Buddha did?
Honestly??
Maybe because Buddha was THE exemplarary teacher who cut through all the bull that comes with religion by SHOWING how to look for your personal place in life and how to attain higher understanding. He made it very clear that the figures in the stories are metahphorical aids to understanding higher concepts.
Things that everyone can aspire to.
I don't think this is what Paarsurrey is saying! He puts new threads up every few minutes about all religions... usually trying to debunk it! He needs to focus on his own!
Ascetism is not essential to finding enlightenment. The internal state is more important than external actions or behaviors. One buddhist monk said, just being alive is enough.
I think if you lead a clean and moderate lifestyle, and meditate or contemplate every day, you will naturally draw closer to God-conciousness.
Siddharta Guatama left his wife and kids because it was his calling. He took a big risk and got a big result-forming a new and valid world religion. To each his own.
I express what I sincerely believe to be true; others could refute with reasons; I don't mind
NO you go to and fro stirring up strife! You know by posting a thread titled "Jesus did not die ont he cross" or "jesus was just a prophet" you are doing nothing but bugging the christians!
A peaceful person would not do this! They would focus on their own religion! You seem stuck on trying to make other religions look bad if they do not agree with you!
Why don't you try being peaceful for a while! You know... like your signature says!
when did buddha find god?...he never said anything about it...coming to your point..well buddha is a state and not name..whether gautam did right thing by leaving his family and kid?..could he have pursued his quest living with his family?..was he worried that being prince ,he would be made king and wont be able to focus on his quest?..should he have taken his wife along and how that would have impacted his quest?..these questions can be answered by gautam ,himself...
i can only say that buddha did give priceless gems to entire human race..gems which would be cherished years down the line..because they are confronting ones and not easy to digest...some of his teaching are though linked with culture of those times..some are illogical while some are bound to be false..since buddha was human...but i applaud his stand against rituals, animal sacrifice, his understanding of simple yet ignored mechanism , his understanding about how thoughts creates world, his backing of not believing in book but reading ,testing and trying...well he was truly revolutionary...
I said I am not against Buddha; but I am not in favour of fiction created in his name by the Buddhists. It is similiar to the Christians making fiction out of Jesus ascending to skies and sitting on the right hand of the Creator-God Allah YHWH; while Jesus was alive and on way to travel to India. It is also like Jews making a fiction out of Elijah going to heaven with the Chariot and horses. Isn't it a fiction?
well you might be creating ficition about buddha or jesus..how about that?..my friend what is fiction and what is not ,none can say that with conformity...for me religious god is fiction , for you it is real...so it is my version of reality and then there is your version of reality...it is as simple as that..
What matters is what you believe in. And sometimes, your belief will guide you on how you'll live your life.
One should live in this world and meditate; no need to be ascetic.
the whole world will be a better place when you SHUT UP parr think of that if you SHUT UP there is one more disrepecting rable rouseing bigot less in the world
I think if one wants to believe however then that is his or her right! However, when they go around posting threads saying other religions are wrong then it becomes a problem!
I absolutely agree with this - so if the christians would stop it right now - I will then go and have a word with the single Muslim frequent poster - ok ?
I agree it goes both ways! In almost anything there are those who go out of their way to push their beliefs! However, those who promote it at other's expense are doing wrong!
And the p0oint is - the christians do it far more, paar is just one voice, what about all the ridiculous christian threads that are here in just as much profusion, I have not seen you criticing them ?
Like I said... there are those in all walks of life that does it...even some atheist do it! I don't see you bashing those atheist who bash everyone else for their beliefs either! Why is that??? is it because they believe the same way you do???? OH ok!!!
Do as I say, not as I do! That is most people's ways!
Have a nice day China Man!
I think I put my comments on many threads liberally sprinkled among the various nutcases, and occasionally in other threads completely unrelated to religion at all.
Mostly I try to support people, like paar here - all on his own with a pack of christian dogs at him. I must say that his questions are sometimes far more meaningful than the christian threads - like that weird one about the giants hoax that was being sold as true - even though the actual article said it was a hoax competition. I would think that most people posting in that thread (and most of the other religious threads) would not even know what an ascetic is, and would probably want to ban meditation (along with yoga) as being ungodly or some such trot.
LOL! I'm sure china Man!
I already knew the giant article was a farce!
Actually, if you read the yoga thread... I think yoga is a good thing and I posted on the thread that I thought it was good....that many of our own holidays are pagan!
I think sometimes you bash someone when you have no idea of who they are! You judge people without really knowing them! A christian doesn't mean "all" are nut cases!
Go figure!
proselytising christians are all 'nut cases' in my book
If some guy with weird ideas starts trying to tempt your kids to his 'club' with threats and promises you would get the cops out, unless he is a christian, !!! now where is the logic !!
Well I guess by your logic 80% of the world are nut cases!
Maybe those 80% think atheist are nutcases! And the same logic could be assumed both ways!
Maybe you should practice what you preach! Keep your beliefs to yourself!!!
What I find alarming is how you can tell anyone to stop promoting their beliefs! Yet in reality you are doing the exact same thing...promoting your own beliefs! You believe there is no God! By all means, that is your right! But stop bashing others for what they believe! I don't push my beliefs on anyone! If someone bashes me, then I do fight back because that is a natural human response!
Maybe you should take a look at the man in the mirror! Who is pushing their beliefs right now? I believe that is YOU!!!
And I am not a nut case! It would surprise you at how rational I am! You should not judge people as you do! I am always open minded and looking for truth in everything!
Peace! Now stop following me around and commenting remarks that are degrading!!!
Have a nice day!
bye

I want to express extreme regret atthe belief in God held in common by somepeople in this age. On the face of it, allreligions of the world believe in the existence ofGod. Their followers profess the same faith, exceptfor an insignificant minority which openly deniesHis existence. But when we...

Can someone find God if he or she doesn't believe, first, that He exists? Is this the meaning of:Hebrews 11:6Now without faith it is impossible to please God, for the one who draws near to Him must believe that He exists and rewards those who seek Him.

It pains me to see so many highly religious people spew hate towards other religions and viewpoints. Isn't a main aspect of every religion having goodwill towards others. Most major religions do not condon hatred, but for some reason religious debates always spark the evil in people. For example, I...

Why does religion cause so many conflicts? Do we require religion at all?
