   I am a christian. Not a very good one but I try my best. The biblical quote I really don't like is " an eye for an eye", I know it has been interpreted as don't overeact but I still don't like it. Seems unchristian. What biblical qoute are you worried about?

      "And god made it rain for 40 days and 40 nights," Thus he destroyed all the inhabitants of earth, except Noah and his family. God promises never to destroy the entire earth's inhabitants with a flood again, but there are so many other methods he could use if he got really angry with us down here.

              He did give an unveiling of things that must come to pass to Jesus and instructed Jesus to give it to his servants and when it was given to John while on the Isle of Patmos and he wrote it down, and after his release from that prison in 96 AD He preached this message back on the mainland.    All of the verses quoted in this thread are from the Old Testament which is the rule book for a primitive civilization and which has now been corrected and updated by the New Testament.Of crucial importance is the correction of the "eye for an eye" teaching which has now been greatly improved:

      So, why did god back-peddle and do a one-eighty on this one? Wouldn't it have made more sense to put the correction in place first considering it was a primitive civilization, and that the correction would have helped "civilize" them rather than increasing the amount of violence towards one another?

         Don't you know anything about publishing?  You always have to come up with second editions with "new information" so people have to buy the book (or scrolls)all over again.

   I have several that are perplexing, and in a strange way, humorous...This one stands out:
   Deuteronomy 23:1

      Apparently Origen believed in Matthew's take on the subject.  He believed that Matthew 19:12 was an instruction for him to castrate himself...
