      There's more hope than all this turd in the bible for me anyway.
      
      The Bible is a good read if you don't take it too seriously as most of the stories are inspiring to create new ones from but that is all.
      
      Religion is just a load of pants that continues to fester with a stain of wee and a dash of poo.

         No man is an island but any man who cannot stand on his own two feet will always be in the control of other people. Sadly other people tend to be corrupted when they have the type of power over another that control gives. I thank goodness I am a woman then

         Yes, people have the power to be gods in their own life and that should be the real focus. No supernatural powers, just control of one's life.

         I have an entire set of hubs dedicated to character education, I have hubs dedicate to speaking the TRUTH about life.
         
         So please...it's been proven that there is absolutely no need or requirement of a god to either understand life or live it.

   You ask a question yet to fail to clarify; Hope for Who ? 
   
   Believe it, or belive it not there is life outside all of the various religious sects. A world peopled by those of us who wish to think and find truth and possible enlightenment in our own way without being told what to think, say or do by others. 
   
   René Descartes, one of the worlds greatesr Philosophers said "I think therefore I am; or I am thinking, therefore I exist."
   
   Another said "The begining of wisdom starts with the statement I do not Know...."
   
   I chose to believe that I alone am the master of my destiny and where does that destiny lie ?  I do not know !
   
     However I have dedicated my life searching.
   
   How sad is it for someone to think they know everything because they have read the Bible or some other holy book or be told by another that God is the only answer.
   
   What a waste of a life !

         I'm sorry but I'm not sure of the point you are trying to make.
         
         
         It would not have to be my brother threatening to kill himself it could be anyone, and of course I would say something, not only that but try my best to help.
         
         But that is because that is the right thing to do, it is the way I was brought up, I don't feel I need a God to tell me what is right.
         
         I would offer my hand to any who need it, no matter who they were.

   I live without god or religion. No one, just may be idiots or completely insensitive people can be permanently happy. We all have our ups and downs. We get sick, our relatives die, we have accidents, we lose friends, money, homes, out trust to certain people. But we cannot live with fear of being punished by god or smb.else, we have to have strength of our own within us and most people do. We have to believe into us as human beings to achieve a lot and contribute to it. I am very happy when my friends or family share their joy or achievement with me, I am very happy when I manage to achieve something myself.
   When I was a 9 years old girl, one starry night I went outside and looking into that vast abyss above me,I cried: "Dear god, or whoever it is, please, take my healthy legs and give it to my little brother, I want him to be healthy. I can use a wheel chair, let him run and play." My little brother was paralysed and could not walk and I loved him so much!
   The big dark sky never gave me an answer. My little brother never walked. I never prayed anymore.
   If we want our life to be better we have to work for that here, now, at this moment while we are still alive.
