"The Prince of This world holds no Power over Me"
    Who was he referring to?
Above any prince is a King so
    Who would that be?

I'm sure this thread will degenerate into insults and character assassination as these religious threads tend to do,so I ask only this.
Please be as colorful as possible with your insults so those of us who are here for fun will have something to laugh about big_smile

One - You have no genuine interest in what Jesus meant aside from MAYBE slight curiosity just for the sake of knowing. Certainly you aren't trying to learn from Him in order to do what He teaches better.

Two - Satan. As if you had googled it you would know. You don't even need to study the Bible, as God had made it so much easier for us in this point in time. Therefore the question is ridiculous and simply posted to instigate. (I'm not surprised)

Three - Common sense would give you your answer anyhow.

And Four - Who do you think Angels hold as their king? God... (Don't tell me Satan doesn't. Just because thieves dislike a king for punishing them makes the king no less the king. God still rules as KING. Claimed... or not...)

Please do pick it apart from your physical perspective driven worldview.

      Doesn't change the obvious..

Jesus wasn't talking about anything mystical. He was literally talking about the Prince and King in his living time.

Years ago for some strange reason, I decided to become a Jehovah's Witness.  Their teachings describe Satan as the prince or ruler of the world.  This was why when Satan tempted Jesus in the wilderness, he had the power to offer all that he did, and Jesus knew this, because Satan is supposed to have dominion over the Earth.

Poor god, he banished satan yet had to give him dominion over earth.
Is this god really a retard or he just is?

Vector, Yes had to cast Satan out of heaven. Satan fell because of pride. He desired to be God, not to be a servant of God.

"Vector, Yes had to cast Satan out of heaven. Satan fell because of pride. He desired to be God, not to be a servant of God."

Yes. But He is not limited to one option in doing so.

He did not have to give Him anything. As God can make anything He desires work the way He wishes. He has no limits save what He will never want to do because that is who and what He is.. Good.

He could do anything with Satan He pleased and it seems some think Satan had played some trick on God in getting power somewhere..

But just like Jesus said, He has NO power over Him.

God uses everything to bring good, and uses everything to His glory.

And the hottest flame brings about the purest gold.

The Prince of this world is Lucifer/Satan. L/S had no power over Jesus. The rebuke of the temptations in the desert asserted this. Which brings us to some Catholic/Protestant dogma. To be tempted is not a sin, for Jesus was tempted. Surrender to the temptation is what is judged against us. Control of the darker side of human nature is our real purpose of self. Without individual, internal control of the naked beast within, we can't move to the next step. Civilization means to control that inner darkness, by partaking of knowledge, we began that journey. When we give into the baser side of mankind, we give power over to the name of darkness. Satan, Jesus, God, the struggle of the conscience, the battle of Armageddon, salvation, damnation are all internal, the struggle with self and the material world, reflected into the external creation in which we all live. This is why we are, how we are and where we are. Jesus spoke to the other side of reality, that which lies beyond the door which closes when we die: Beyond that door? Another reality, at the far end, another door. This is the meaning of the eye in the triangle.

We can only guess what Jesus meant because we can not be so certain. So it depends on how you want to interpret it.

      1. vector7 profile image61
vector7posted 14 years agoin reply to this

No, He only meant it in one way.. Not whatever way you personally interpret it.

You can read plenty of context, the Bible is not such a short book, nor are the accounts of Jesus' life.

Jesus didn't intend for you to see things how you wish, otherwise He would have not said anything at all.

You teach to inform the pupils, not to build their imagination.

If there were a test, you think everyone would pass with completely opposite views.....    No.

        cool
