   Will Kobe Bryant ever been considered the greatest NBA player to ever play the game?
   
   It's starting to become more common to hear people debate if Kobe Bryant is the greatest NBA player of all time.  However many people still consider it unthinkable to even compare Kobe to Michael Jordan.  When Kobe's career is all said and done, do you think there will be a lot of people who look back on his career and think he's the best to ever play?

   Maybe looking at his skill and accomplishments Kobe might measure up, but I don't think he will ever develop the same legendary status. He doesn't seem to have any iconic moments like Jordan does, and his character does have that blemish on it that will probably never go away. It won't for me anyway.
   
   But even statistically, Jordan scored 50 points or more in a playoff game eight times - that's an amazing record that may never be broken. Kobe has only one of those.
   
   Jordan remains in my mind one of the greatest athletes of all time.

   No. He is still a great player, but his best days are probably behind him. So if most people are not convinced yet that he is the best ever, then I doubt that anything he will do for the rest of his career will change their mind. His statistics are also not quite as impressive as a Michael Jordan or a Wilt Chamberlain.
   
   Kobe has probably been criticized as much or more than any great athlete that I have ever seen. Many people criticize him for not being the best ever, which is a ridiculous criteria to judge someone by. He plays his butt off, has an amazing work ethic, is always willing to take the big shot, plays through injuries, and has piled up some impressive achievements. He does, however, shoot too much sometimes, and he tends to whine when he loses. All in all, however, I would take 12 guys like him on my team any day of the week.

   kobe's the greatest....
   seen how he play last year's game 5 playoff w/ the suns.
   KB24 is simply amazing........
   can michael be still michael if he's playing today don't think so
   because there's so many that can defend him.

   He's an amazing player and if you look at the stats, it's closer than most people would think. But even with that said, Kobe just doesn't have the star power that MJ had during his primetime when basketball was a more popular sport. NFL and NASCAR's ratings have stolen some fans and without support, it's hard to be considered the greatest ever in a sport.

    No.  Rings might mean one thing but revolutionizing the game is another.  Jordan was the leader in so many things, from shoe contracts, baggy shorts, to evolving his game and mental toughness.  It's all about the era as well.  When Jordan was battling his way up he had the Pistons to deal with and then the Knicks.  What defined these moments was that year after year teams kept the same players.  So every year when these teams would inevitably battle you felt like you knew the players and their game.  Kobe is a great player but Jordan will always have that icon status.

    I like Kobe for sure, but I think Jordan will have top billing.  Jordan's two retirements after each of the Bulls' "three-peats" is inexcusable to me though.  Imagine what he could have accomplished if he had stuck it out.  Now we'll never know could have been (which irritates me).  But at the end of the day, Kobe still doesn't measure up.

    If Kobe wins one more title, he will be considered the best ever for sure!
    6 seems to be the magical number of titles that you need.
    
    Still most people will say Jordan is No.1.
    
    Players become the greatest when they retire, so perhaps, in ten years when we will look back he'll be closer to No.1

    I think they are both amazing players and I doubt Kobe will ever be considered number one, but not for his ability to play basketball. I think the main reason that Jordan is number one is because he revolutionized the game. Kobe is playing in a different era than Jordan, so I don't think there can be a comparison between Jordan and Kobe. Jordan didn't play nearly the number of amazing defenders as Kobe does, but Jordan still has sllightly better stats. I think that if the NBA lockout can end and Kobe wins another championship many people will then consider him the best, but only if he gets that next championship. I do happen to think tha Kobe's days as a player are numbered because of this lockout, hopefully he'll play a few more seasons but he may only play one or two more.

    I feel times change, and so do players.
    Jordan was the best of his time and so is Kobe of his time.Such players emerge once in an era and show the world what they are capable of.A comparison between these giants may not be justified looking at the fact that both of them reigned different times for over a decade, while the other players changed as well, an so did the competition.
    To me, both of them stand equally worthy and equally venomous on the court.
