Who is the toughest player you've ever seen in sports?

Every sport requires a certain toughness and then there are players who take it to the extreme at time.  In your mind, who is the toughest?

Say what you will about the man, but he was once the greatest in the world. Mike Tyson! Was a beast in his prime. Scary man.

Anderson" The Spider" Silva, brazilian MMA fighter in UFC. Simply devastating.

Everyone on the Oakland Raiders in the 70's.

    SO many more........

I'd say anybody who survived those Raiders in the 70s deserves a spot on this list.

For sure, they were a nasty bunch. Cant believe I forgot my man George St.Pierre another MMA guy. Such a complete badass!

Stuart Pearce- ('Psycho'). He tried to run off a broken leg and was as tough a left back as you'll find in football (soccer). He never flinched in a tackle and anyone who played against him knew they'd been in a game.

He made the footballers of today who do a triple summersault at the slightest of contact seem like cheats.

I'm not a soccer fan and even I've heard stories about him.  Tough S.O.B.

There's some great youtube coverage of some of his worst tackles- real leg breakers!

Ronnie Lott, DB for the San Francisco 49ers among other teams.  As hard a hitter as there's ever been in the NFL.

He had the tip of a finger crushed at the end of a season, and when it looked like it might not heal up in time for the next season he just had it amputated rather than miss any games.

Meh . . . fingers. You always have nine more.

He always was a gamer.  Proved he was tough on every hit and separated those who weren't tough on the other side from those who were.

Luol Deng, quality player, plays both good defense and offense, lots of playing time. Not necessarily the toughest, but it's the first that came to mind.

Played the seasons with a torn up wrist.  I'd say that qualifies.  What sidelined him last season was some sort of nasty flu that put him in the hospital.

Andre Miller, the NBA player who played the 7 full seasons without bumps, bruises, or colds. He played 632 consecutive games and was suspended for the next match as he hit Blake Griffin.
