I react to them just as I do with any other hairstyle.  I have dreadlocks for over 20 years.  They are a hairstyle for me and not because of any type of belief.  Therefore, as long as they are properly maintained, I done see any reason to look at them in any different type of way.

The same way you react with everyone else!  Do "dred locks" ring a bell that sings terrorist or retard?!?!?!  Do you automatically get insight on who that individual is because of the way they wear their hair?  Are you serious all around in asking this question? As I look at your photo it makes me wanna know if you're really meditating would like to learn how to!

I usually feel a sense of happiness because when I see someone with dreadlocks, I feel like the person is comfortable with who they are. It is a beautiful thing to see someone who isn't just trying to be a clone of everyone else in the world.

Our uniqueness is what makes the world interesting.

over all it depends how they look. If they are neat and clean, then I am jealous! smile  I tried dreading a few years back and couldn't get them neat enough, so I got rid of them.  If they are messy and dirty looking, then I think "aaand thats why I took mine out!" As a whole I usually think a girl with dreads takes her own path through life.

I like dreadlocks and don't react in any particular way. Some people will look classy no matter what hairdo they have.

i don't get the question really or at least why your asking. do people act differently then seeing a woman with straight hair, i don't think so.

I don't think anything when I see a young woman with dreadlocks. I never judged a person on how they choose to wear their hair. It would be very shallow of me to react to a woman with dreadlocks. It is what is inside that counts.

I think it depends on how  clean they look. If they look pretty clean, then I think that dreads can look really hot on a woman. However, if they look rather dirty then I would assume that they are a dirty person. Maintained well though, and dreads can be super sexy.

Thank you everyone for your responses! smile To answer everyones concern on WHY i asked this question.......I was recently told my a stranger that society will not except me with dreadlocks because they are not feminine, and they associate dreads with homeless people. Now to me, this individual seems slightly narrow minded....but i thought i would post the question just to see how my fellow hubbers feel. I just started my dreadies, and I luv them. It is a commitment, and lifestyle for myself. I also think that nice, tidy dreads look sexy and empowering! I am not swayed by opinions, it was just food for thought! Thanks again! smile

I treat them as a normal person. It is so sad that people treat a person just on looks. They need to look at the inner person and find out what makes them tick.

My first impression of a woman with dreadlocks is usually that she looks kind of artsy and individualistic. She does what she wants with her appearance regardless of the trends.
