It widely depends on your hair type. But staying hydrated and making sure your getting your vitamins and minerals helps... especially the omega oils and vitamin E. You can do warm oil treatments and other such organic hair treatments for your specific type of hair. The Ayurvedic system is good. Google and be amazed. It is a whole health and beauty way based on your body type.
Don't wear a cap/hat! (I find older - even younger - men who experience hair loss have worn caps/hats for a long time. I rarely wear anything on my head. I have a floppy hat one of my 'crew' brought back from Australia with its origins advertised on the front. Good enough to wear when it's raining cats'n'dogs or snowing heavily (which we don't seem to get much of these days), but no great fashion statement - not that I could ever be seen as 'fashion conscious'. But for my age (65+) I've got a great head of hair, even if I say so myself!
