I think, but I'm not positive, that the ends do rotate. Keep in mind Terrie that there is no motorized mechanism of any kind on this thing what so ever.
My husband looked at it and said that it's a lathe. Good for making rounded wood posts :)
The problem with it being a lathe SA Williams is that there isn't a power source to turn the piece of wood. It is all operated manually by hand.
oh, geeze...lol, I don't know then. Maybe it is some kind of log tool.
SA Williams, a lathe was my first thought also, but your arm would get so very tired after manually turning this massive thing. But that was a wonderful effort in trying to figure out what this thing is , and please don't stop trying to guess.
