What is the first thing you do when you Wake up in the morning?
Hi Niki,
The first thing I do in the mornings is read a verse from my book- Joyce Meyer devotions. Then I drink an 8 once bottle of water with a B-12 vitamin. After that I turn on Pandora radio online to listen to Yolanda Adams, as I begin to write an article.
This is a good question, thanks. Peace
Smile.
I'm still alive. A new day with all its wonders, challenges, complexities and rewards is just ripe for living - there's still time to write, to laugh, to discover, to love, to learn.
Every morning I wake up I feel as if I've cheated the dark lady, death. She'll get me in the end, I know, enfolding me in her cold and final embrace - but not yet.
Fantastic! Up and at it, boy - not a moment to waste!
Hunt for any source of caffeine that I can find. If none, then search for any source of sugar that I can find. I literally cannot function without a jolt of something...
I, in my own 'musicality challenged' way sing along with the praise & worship song that is subconsciously playing (lifting my voice and hands to God) as He awakens me each morning. I know He appreciates my worship; but at the same time, I'm sure He's thinking: "for real, Yvette; is that what you call a JOYFUL noise!!!" (lol) God and I have a lot of fun times together (even early in the morning) because He really does have a sense of humor!
From there, I lie in bed and chat with Him; giving Him thanks and praise for a new day and all His many other blessings. I listen to hear a Word (scripture from Him) to meditate on. If He doesn't give me a Word for meditation, then I ask Him to show me a Word from the Bible and to open my understanding to receive what He is saying through His Word. He does. When I finish studying His Word, I get up, pray, and get the rest of my day going.
I stumble into the kitchen and turn on a pot of coffee! I need caffeine to function, or at least to be less grumpy.
Grab my underwear and head to the bathroom for a shower. I like to do it first thing in the morning. Makes the day seem better for me.
Open my eyes but since I have a great internal time piece I do not require to look at the time as I already know what time it is . . . 'Time to Wake Up!'
Niki - LOL -- run to The toilet. The john. The loo. The commode. The porcelain throne. No matter what you call it, there's no doubt it is a true technological marvel and a welcome addition to every morning activities
.
First thing I do is to make sure my wedding tackle is still where it is supposed to be. If it is, then I go use it in the bathroom, before refilling my bladder with tea or, depending on my state of mind, vodka, before writing something nobody will understand. When my medication has worn off, I delete what I have just written, and begin writing in English.
THAT was definitely an honest answer - and gave me a good laugh.
.....to be perfectly honest, I think about Sannel, my lady friend and love of my life - sending you warm wishes and good energy from lake erie time ontario canada 12:39pm and I suppose you could cue in Etta James' At Last during this time in my morning .....
On waking in the morning, I spend two minutes in God's company which transforms the power of deep sense of peace in me and it starts controlling my day. The rest of the day automatically unfolds in a wonderful way. I can safely say that this is one success principle that is really integrating into my life. Thanks to HIM.
That darn morning wood needs to be dealt with so I do not have to walk funny towards the coffee pot... *blushes*
That one negative vote is surely not somebody I should be associating with... I would melt them... *grins*
After waking up in the morning I usually thank God for His mercies which enables me to see the new day. After that I always go to the bathroom and take a hot shower. It is after this that I take my breakfast. After some minutes before 7.00am, I am on the road waiting for a motorbike to take me to school for work. Then I am off for work. And that is my beautiful morning in a nutshell.
First thing I do when I first wake up in the morning is brush my teeth and tongue well for approximately two minutes with Crest Complete Multi- Benefit Extra White plus Scope outlast and then rinse with scope mouthwash.
Bathroom, smoke and coffee, write my prayer and the dream/s I had in my sleep; in that order.
Writing your dreams is a good idea, just look at Stephanie Meyers.
Thanks bn9900 for the comment. Yes, I had developed the habit of writing down my dreams; had written thousands of them in hundreds of notebooks. I found out that there is some "sort of power" gained in this habit...it's beyond explanation.
The first thing I do when I wake up, is to thank my God and Savior, Jesus Christ for bringing me to this new day, for my heart beat, my breath, for my children and the roof over our heads, for providing for us, for living inside of me and doing His perfect will in me and through me.
There is nothing more endearing than someone who is filled with gratitude. You make me smile, so I am certain that our Heavenly Father smiles when He looks down upon you and I am sure He looks forward to your morning routine. Well done, Helen!!!
Thank you dear C.J....I appreciate your friendship and encouragement, your kindness and thoughtfulness! I am so glad that you are my brother in Christ Jesus!
Helen
When I officially wake up (because I check my smart phone from time to time throughout the night...) I open up The Bible and read at least a short---quick sentence from it to get ready for my day ahead.
if I wake up on time, then I stare myself at the mirror for a minute or two to see if there are any new pimples on my face! If I am late, then I rush to the kitchen and make tea!
From what I remember, I turn on the coffee maker. I set it up the night before. I remember that. I have a new question. Is there life before coffee?
http://youtu.be/zYNVsmt01m4
I try to catch the tail of whatever weird thought or dream I woke up from. Sometimes I can almost remember, other times it's just a really odd sentence that makes very little sense. It keeps the day interesting.
feed the dogs, make coffee and read. I get up before husband and kids so I can have my own time. Just me and the dogs in the morning... Ahh... great start to each day.
Yell at the cat for scratching at the nursery door so as to not wake the baby.
Yes, all sounds to do with waking the baby (cat scratching, dog barking, doorbell, etc) are some of the most aggravating things possible!
Saluting the GOD, for providing me one more day to enjoy this beautiful world!
Make my bed. It's habit, I do that even before going to the bathroom.
sense into my body, take a few cleansing breaths from the belly, become aware of Presence and begin my meditation.
Coffee and quiet time. I spend about an hour just enjoying my coffee and waking up, and usually check all my sites before I start my working day.
Good question..
I wake up in the morning and try to say "Thank you, thank you, thank you..'
I say this because it has such a positive note to it.
This gets me starting the day right.
I try to end the day the same way, and find doing this will take away any anxiety left from the day.
Brush my teeth, cigarette then brush my teeth again.
Usually look at the time...then turn whichever alarm happens to be going off...or hit the snooze.
I make my husband breakfast. He has to be at work a lot earlier than me so I get up and make him turkey sausage and fried eggs every morning. Of course, this is not the case on the weekends.
Give thanks to God for another day and for keeping me and my family safe throughout the night.
Seems like all the comments about God in the morning receive a negative 1 - how petty.
I can't say I am that virtuous, I don't pray until I'm in the shower after I've hit the porcelain throne. After that, coffee! Can't live without it.
Now this is an awesome answer. I can't lie and say the first thing I do is pray so I love your answer and the fact that you take the time to thank the man above!
You might want to make a double take Alexander. Not all of them are given a 'negative'. Congrats on the best answer.
I don't know how I got that award - it's just what I do in the morning :-) And thanks also NikiDiva!
Well, if you must know...to be literal...I do 3 things...
1) make the sign of the cross, thanking God for giving me another day to
aggravate my ex...
2) Make myself coffee - the size depends upon what I did the night before...
3) Log into HubPages to see what dumb questions I can answer...
JUST KIDDING, JUST KIDDING!!!!
#1 is the real answer to your question - except for the part about my ex...well, then again, so is # 2...but so is #3 - except for the crack about dumb questions!

Get on my knees and thank God for another day of life. Then I have coffee and read my bible.....God's word is such a lift in the morning helps me start my day with a smile.
I simply lie in bed for a moment to observe the early onset of daylight and listen to the birds with their little symphony of chirps and warbles. I feel the comforting weight of the blanket and sheet on my body. After a few moments of this tranquil state, I reach for my lamp on the bed-side night stand and turn on the light. I stretch, flex a few muscles, then push my covers toward my feet--I'm ready to start my day.
Get my little girl out of the bed and give her breakfast.
turn around and make the bed.......I immediately accomplish something!
I brush my teeth and make some coffee. I can't eat anything without brushing my teeth first. And usually its with coffee. Or if I'm not really hungry, I just drink coffee and get my day started.
The first thing that I do when I wake up in the morning is Pray...there's no other way to start the day
First thing in my mind...is the special sweet person in my life, and then all the special people in my life close to me... getting breakfast... and that sweet person again... being in love tends to do that to a girl...
I yawn, of course. After that I pray. This is all followed up by a series of stretching.
I think about what's for breakfast as I yawn and stretch.
drink a cup of coffee and organize thoughts of things to do for the day
