Does Anyone remember what came before Face Book?

I see a lot of messages and hubs and media all about Face Book, BUT there was something bigger than that before that even was though of.  It was MSN Groups.  Has anyone remember that or have been in one?

My-Space is the social network that came before Face Book.

From my perspective (which may be a too-narrow one), I'd say My Space or Live Journal (Liv Journal?  I wasn't all that familiar with that one) seemed to be The Thing (but Facebook has evolved so much from what it started to be maybe I'm only see that mainly-youth-focused aspect of things as far as "predecessor" goes.

MSN Groups came way before all of those and was VERY active with many, many groups that you could set up on your own and converse with your group members.

MSN Groups.  Multiply and YUKU was where the MSN Groups told us to go when they broke up.  The reason they said that they broke up was because they did not have the money to run them anymore.

There were Yahoo Chat Rooms or any chat room like AOL, they seemed to have vanish in way of forums.

Yes Lady Guinevere, I used to have two MSN groups that were reasonably popular, also Yahoo Groups which are still going but aren't as good. I think Myspace was the first real social media site.

Friendster is what I remember. But there was also multiply, which was mostly used for businesses.
