The default privacy setting are better in G+ that in FB, however, Google ensures you make a public profile that of course is visible in its search engine.
Facebook has advanced with its security over the last few years. Its not perfect but its getting there. Google has had the benefit of learning from Facebooks mistakes so its hard to say.
