When was the first time you ever took flight in an airplane, & was it scary for you.
Flying in airplanes for the first time for many people can be very scary, let us know about your first airplane experience. Explain when, where, and how you actually felt before lift off.
I was only 9 years old when I took my first flight, but I still remember the anticipation and, yes, a little bit of fear. We were taking our first family vacation from Connecticut to Walt Disney World, and my excitement was definitely tinged with a little bit of dread. As a child, my feelings were primarily determined by how my parents were behaving. My dad loved flying, so I took most of my emotional cues from him, but my mom was nervous so I was a little nervous too. What I remember most was Dad explaining everything that was going on so I would know what all the funny noises were and not be frightened. To this day, when the landing gear is retracted or when the wing flaps are going up or down, I think of my dad and how he took the time to make sure I was ok. The engines revving just before that first launch down the runway got my heart pounding, and I wasn't sure if I was more excited or scared for the first few seconds. Then the nerves disappeared as we lifted off and I felt just pure wonder as we headed into the sky.
I was nine when my parents took me to the Philippines for Thanksgiving and Christmas (1968). It was the first and only time I would get to spend with my grandmothers. Although I do have relatives living there, I haven't visited, since. We took off from San Francisco by Pan Am. I slept most of the time. I was born with my daddy's "Traveling Shoes". As long as I have the cold hard cash, I'm traveling. I got on that plane like it was nothing because I wanted to get there and see and do everything. Now, I prefer road trips and cruising. I don't care for the stress of air travel. But I will always feel that excitement when it comes to traveling.
I was...3 months old? I think. Not quite sure if I was younger. Went to Tenerife, a little island owned by Spain. I slept for most of the journey and when I was awake I wasn't crying, at least I don't think I was (can't remember parents ever bringing it up)
The first time I flew was when I was 17. My family took a trip to Ireland. I was excited and a little scared as we took our first flight from Knoxville to Dallas. I remember I got a very bad headache and my ears hurt very badly, because my inner ears would not adjust to the altitude. After that first flight though, I have not had problems of it again. Even though I am not a fan of heights, I do not fear flying. In fact, I enjoy it!
The very first time that I boarded an airplane................I walked off ( out) without ever taking flight...........just can't appreciate anything that seperates me from my lunch or my footing.
No roller coasters, no twirl-a-whirls, don't go too fast on the merry-go-round......that's the kind of girl that I am.
It would be a good 15 years later, before I would board another............it was my daughter's post college graduation..........I simply HAD to go.
I made the mistake, of taking the back seat..........thinking the nearby children would distract me from my fears.
It was SO foolish............
I felt myself being thrown backward as the plane lifted...........I ordered a drink, then another............I actually, opened my Bible, and prayed, " God, do not let me get sick on this plane, in front of these little kids"............He did not, and I did not............man, was I woozy when the flight landed.
Phoenix, OKC, Dallas, Little Rock........Soaring through the clouds.........below us................which is which...............oh, man, only a bird should be here..............
Her diploma..............what a proud ( and dizzy) mother I was.............I redeemed my return ticket, and made my way back via greyhound...............
My hubby met me, braided my hair, and drove me away on the back of his motorcyle...................the ground............that is where I belong.
I was 18 and on my way to boot camp at MCRD San Diego. I don't recall being scared of the flight. I was mostly terrified of what was waiting for me at my destination. I have flown dozens of times since and have never been nervous except during times of turbulence...especially over foreign countries in craft chartered by the military.
However, my uncle retired from a major airline as a mechanic and told me that he was going on a cross-country drive to a motorcycle rally. I asked why he didn't just fly to which he replied, "I used to work on those things and I know what they do to fix them. I'll never fly!"
I was 3 years old when i took my first flight. So I cant even remember it.

It's that time of year again where what I like to call the "Big Three" is coming: Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas! Halloween is a Paganistic holiday that involves dressing in masks & costumes to appease evil spirits. Thanksgiving is about celebrating the harvest & Christmas...
