What Is The Most Economical Vacation?
What Is The Most Economical Vacation But Still Is A Great Vacation?
For financial reasons, one year we had a "Staycation".
I set aside the amount of money we were able to spend that week and I planned several activities.
For example:
For breakfast, we went to our local bakery and tasted some foods we don't usually eat for breakfast.
Then....
During the day, we went bowling, to the zoo, shopping at an outlet store that is 2 hours away, to the pool, and to the library for movies and books to read. (You can find coupons online for local attractions to help you save $$).
At night, we had pizza night with a movie at home twice, went out to eat several nights always to a new place, did a camp out where everyone slept in the living room on air mattresses with flashlights, and we also had family over to play board games with coffee and dessert.
The rest of the time, we just had our free time to take naps and do some of the things we never have time to do.
When our children were little my husband and I were concentrating on our careers..so $ was tight..so we opted to take an occasional Friday and camp out in the backyard, putting up tents and using blankets or sleeping bags.. cooking hot dogs/ making wraps or chili and smores over the grill..my husband would play guitar and we would sing and read storybooks..as the children grew, we played boardgames and each child took turns telling a story of their choice..if it rained, we set up in the garage or screened porch..the children had a blast. This became a family tradition as they grew up..it was a great way of releasing stress..and they even did it on their own sometimes..They are now parents themselves and share this tradition with their children... We now do it with the grandchildren....
brings back many memories...and it was " free "
An idea for economical vacation is 'Home Swap'. You can swap your home for one in a locality of your choice for a few days. This is great way of vacationing home away from home.
Definitely agree with the answers below, the most economical vacation is a staycation, within your own home. It reduces planning and budget required as there is no flight involved. However, if you would prefer to relax in more luxury, you can consider booking maybe a one night stay in a local hotel . During non-peak periods, the discounts may make it a bargain.
Go for backpacking in South East Asia! Making a little twist of your usual travelling. Meet real people with full of culture and stories to share. It will be all worth it. And since it is in SEA countries, it would be the cheapest travel for you.

I didn't even know that they existed until I decided I needed some time away from "working", social media and other stressful situations. It's a vacation that you have at home without the added expense of reservations, hotel stays and long road trips. I am going to sit back, relax, let my...
