When my mate and I got married, we went to Paris. Even though it was quite wonderful, something we both will never forget, we have often wished we had gone, instead or in addition to, Venice.
So the answer would be, if you can afford it, do both. Hopefully you will only have one marriage and one honeymoon but, of course, if you had more it would be easier to do both.
I haven't been to either place so if I could I would go for both. If not, maybe Paris?
