We are planning a trip to Europe next year , hopefully August / September. Any suggestions
on great places to visit away from the cities that are amazing to see ? I hope to fly into Greece & make our way through diferent countries & then ino Britain.
I've visited a few places in Europe, which include Italy, Spain, Portugal, France etc. I have also visited quite a few Greek Islands, however, after visiting Kefalonia in August, I have to admit that this is one of the most stunning locations of all. Absolutely beautiful.
Paris is simply amazing. It is so much more than pictures communicate and very romantic. Yeah, it's a place for lovers but the city itself--you'll fall in love with it. I walked for hours each day, and the subway works like a whistle, easily navigated. The sites are many and wonderful. I could have spent a week in the Louvre. Okay, done--PARIS!
I've only visited a few places in Europe, but I can tell you that out of them, Rome is my favorite European city. It has a great vibe. The touristy stuff is really fun, but even if the all the Roman ruins weren't there, it would still be a fun city to experience.
Galicia in Spain is beautiful, and Grenada is another sight to behold. I also love the different neighborhoods of London.
I really enjoyed Spain a lot. Madrid and Barcelona were pretty awesome. I would also check out Croatia. Their coastal cities are really beautiful.
No doubt, Italy (Rome, Florence, Venice, Verona, you name it) and Croatia (the coast - Pula, Zadar, Split, Dubrovnik)! Germany - Dresden, Wiesbaden, Aschaffenburg! The Czech Republic - Prague! Austria - Vienna! Of course, there are many other very interesting small places to see, like for example Amaseno or Priverno in Italy, but you really need to organize yourself well and it would be a great pity if you didn't visit the big cities, too
Whatever you do you will have a fantastic trip! It all depends how much time you have! I did the same trip you did but starting from London and taking the train all the way to Greece and what a trip that was.
I have lived in London and now live in Paris and I would say these two cities are both absolutely "musts".
For a bit of ancient feel, Rome is great and all the Italian cities mentioned are beautiful. Venice is quite smelly in summer due to drainage issues, but it is romantic.
I also love the south coast of Spain. If you want a bit of glitz Puerto Banus on the Costa del Sol is a lovely place to stop. You can even take a day trip to Tangier in Morocco from Costa del Sol (Tarifa). You will need a car.
If you like French wine : Burgundy area (near Lyon), Bordeaux or chateau neuf de Pape are all great places to sample the best wines.
I love champagne and a trip to Rheims or Eperney (2 hours drive from Paris) is unforgettable. Have a great time wherever you decide to go!
Ps Budapest is also a fascinating place if you are willing to including Hungary on your tour!
Well, i love Europe though i've never visited it. But do visit Venice...i wish you a happy and a memorable trip!
Thanks for the advice ! I have been to Paris, Venice , Rome, Pisa , on day trips while in Europe, however my new husband has never been so I will go back to the city of LOVE & other cities as well as exploring places I haven't been as well . His background is from Spain so that is a must to explore . We hope to take a few months traveling .
Croatia sounds amazing as well .
Paris! Take a river cruise at night to see the Eiffel Tower light up, visit Notre Dame, The Louvre, walk the streets, eat in small little restaurants down side streets.
Venture out to the country and explore Provence, so beautiful.
Ireland is gorgeous and London is also amazing. It is hard to pin it down!
Paris and Germany. I've been to a couple European countries and these are the two I constantly desire to go to. However since you are a male you might want to substitute Paris for London. Though I didn't like it there.
Hi:Yes a good suggestion. If your an american,i would strongly suggest that you were a CANADAIAN flag on your person.Americans are not liked in Europe and often find themselves with there heads kicked in very fast.If you have any sort of a brain in your head you'll take this advice very seriously!
I will be going to Italy and France soon. And will definitely write about my trips. So, do check out my hubs later on
