    St. Augustine, ever been?

I'm going on Sunday for a little get-away with my son so we can spend some time together. We're planning on doing the pirate museum, a ghost tour, fountain of youth & just hitting the beach and looking around town.

Ever been? Tell me about it, I'm excited. yikesD

I live 45 minutes from there, I suggest the fort! The whole area is so pretty and there is too much to do in one trip. Wander the old town streets a bit, there are some wonderful, quaint shops~

Thanks Mari; I'm in Fl too, but on the gulf coast. Never been to St. Aug before. We're staying right near the fort, hitting ft. of youth, beach, pirate museum & doing a ghost tour. Plus wandering around the town with a camera. Thanks!

I've been there four times, and each time I have done something different, except the fort which we've been to on each visit.  The prison, the Old School House, Confederate Village, Pirate Museum,  the Wax Museum, the Fort, The Fountain of Youth, Ripley's Museum are a few favorites.  There is an amazing ice-cream shop that is a must-visit, but I can't remember what it's called. I'm actually working on a hub about St. Augustine.

Thanks, we heard about a Waffle & Milkshake place my son wants to go to. I will have to look for an ice cream place. Looking forward to reading your hub!

Did you go on your trip, or is it this coming Sunday?  I'd love to hear about it.
I bet a hub is coming!
Thanks for selecting my response as "Best answer."

My wife, children and I visited St. Augustine about 7 years ago while vacationing in Florida.  It is a nice old city with lots of history.  We only spent a day there but we were able to see quite a bit including spending about two hours touring Castillo de San Marcos the old Spanish fort which is the oldest masonry fort in the United States.  The fort is well preserved with a long and fascinating history.

The fort is one site that I go to each time that I visit.  Nothing else is repeated, except the fort.  It is such an incredible city with such an intriguing history.  I am already planing my next trip there...and I've been there 4 times.  lol

Had a great time in St. Augustine! Saw a lot of cool places-- castillo, colonial settlement, walked around historic district.  Thanks all!
