Singapore. I went there with a girl-friend a few years back. We were sitting in a bar when we were approached by two middle eastern guys who insisted on buying us drinks.
As hours passed we noticed there was only four of us in the hotel. (Little did we know they were paying the staff to stay open after hours)
When we left we were followed and it ended in a mouse and cat chase.
We ran for our lives as we realized these men were not going to let us go.
I may never have seen my country again sad
Luckily it worked out in the end, we got away.
(A story to pass down for sure)

Rome, it was beautiful and seeing the vatican city and walking into the sistine chapel was fantastic, it took my breath away.

The top of a mountain in Nepal, 6476m above sea level, just after dawn, not a cloud in the sky. Eyes fixed on Everest with the classic plume of ice crystals blowing from the summit.
5 of the 6 tallest mountains in the world lined up in front of me.
Doesn't get much better than that.

The mountain sounds beautiful, I'd love to do something like that. For me it was Holland, Leiden and Amsterdam. I was 18, just out of college, and I moved over there for a while with a friend. We ended up living in a squat for a while, and going to big illegal parties at old abondoned wharehouses and places like that. It was a bit too exciting at times, actually. The nicest place was visiting the Islands around Thailand.

The answer to this question depends not so much on where, but on what you were doing there and with whom.

One memory sticks out for me:  Rio de Janeiro on New Years Eve.

It is absolutely crazy to be on a beach (Copacobana), with over 1 million other people dressed in white on the beach with you.  There are fireworks barges on the water, 13 or 15 or so, all synchronized.

Now there are other exciting places and situations, but when I think about it, I can still feel the sheer electricity in the air that night.  I was absolute exhausted that night because I had just landed earlier that day, my first ever in Brazil.  But I just soaked up energy from being there with 1 million of your best friends.  You can say many things about Brazil, good and bad, but one thing is certain:  they sure know how to throw a party down there.

And you didn't ask, but the least exciting ever?  Winnipeg in the dead of winter once for work (apologies to Manitoban Hubbers).

That would depend on one's definition of exciting.  As for exotic-New Zealand and Hawaii on the same trip with my parents as a girl on a family trip.  As for exciting as in emotionally charged and memorable, it's a tie between Washington state every summer or Canada's Nova Scotia as a teenager.  Great times!!

Close to my home: Tsavo East National Park Kenya last June.
We slept in an unfenced Tented Camp.
At night elephants were passing right through the camp and in the morning a leopard came to drink at the waterhole right next to our tent, very exiting!
