I, being of the constitution that carries with me an insatiable wanderlust, would LOVE to know the most exciting place you have ever been and why. Whether close to home or far away...Let us feel your experience! Oo La La!!
Kenya for me. Some of my fondest memories are living with the Maasai tribe for two years...
Singapore. I went there with a girl-friend a few years back. We were sitting in a bar when we were approached by two middle eastern guys who insisted on buying us drinks.
As hours passed we noticed there was only four of us in the hotel. (Little did we know they were paying the staff to stay open after hours)
When we left we were followed and it ended in a mouse and cat chase.
We ran for our lives as we realized these men were not going to let us go.
I may never have seen my country again
Luckily it worked out in the end, we got away.
(A story to pass down for sure)
Rome, it was beautiful and seeing the vatican city and walking into the sistine chapel was fantastic, it took my breath away.
The top of a mountain in Nepal, 6476m above sea level, just after dawn, not a cloud in the sky. Eyes fixed on Everest with the classic plume of ice crystals blowing from the summit.
5 of the 6 tallest mountains in the world lined up in front of me.
Doesn't get much better than that.
The Moon...I took some pills I shouldn't have and I went on a trip that was just magical, there was these moon people and cars that looked like clouds....
I knew it...they stole my favorite bong...Moony bastards!
I knew I shouldn't leave those pills on the table next to the vodka...
The mountain sounds beautiful, I'd love to do something like that. For me it was Holland, Leiden and Amsterdam. I was 18, just out of college, and I moved over there for a while with a friend. We ended up living in a squat for a while, and going to big illegal parties at old abondoned wharehouses and places like that. It was a bit too exciting at times, actually. The nicest place was visiting the Islands around Thailand.
CraZy!! Sounds like good times though!!
New Orleans. It's history mystifies you. Or NYC, it is loud and makes you feel powerful.
I got chills, there multiplying, I'm losing control, the power...oh not Grease!! I'll leave!
I have to agree with you about Greece... You don't know PARTY until you know Greece! Lol!
Are you going to come out of the closet here on hubpages?
I don't know if I can handle that kind of drama...
'Been to Mars. Then came down; didn't like that as much. Cold and windy. Ain't the kinda place to raise your kids.
The answer to this question depends not so much on where, but on what you were doing there and with whom.
-Cuba
-Arenal volcano in Costa Rica
-The top of a 15,000 ft mountain peak in Colorado
-The 1200 year old town of Toledo in Spain
-Waking up across the street from the palace where Marie Antoinette was imprisoned
-Hiking off the trail at the bottom of the Grand Canyon
-Mardi Gras
-The city of Tangier in Morocco
-Mayan ruins in Beliz
-A 500 lb blue marlin at the end of my fishing rod in the Gulf Stream
In the delivery rooms of various hospitals waiting to meet my 5 babies for the first time.
One memory sticks out for me: Rio de Janeiro on New Years Eve.
It is absolutely crazy to be on a beach (Copacobana), with over 1 million other people dressed in white on the beach with you. There are fireworks barges on the water, 13 or 15 or so, all synchronized.
Now there are other exciting places and situations, but when I think about it, I can still feel the sheer electricity in the air that night. I was absolute exhausted that night because I had just landed earlier that day, my first ever in Brazil. But I just soaked up energy from being there with 1 million of your best friends. You can say many things about Brazil, good and bad, but one thing is certain: they sure know how to throw a party down there.
And you didn't ask, but the least exciting ever? Winnipeg in the dead of winter once for work (apologies to Manitoban Hubbers).
That would depend on one's definition of exciting. As for exotic-New Zealand and Hawaii on the same trip with my parents as a girl on a family trip. As for exciting as in emotionally charged and memorable, it's a tie between Washington state every summer or Canada's Nova Scotia as a teenager. Great times!!
coorg in India....one of the best places to see the nature's beauty...really awesome.."scotland of india"!!!
Close to my home: Tsavo East National Park Kenya last June.
We slept in an unfenced Tented Camp.
At night elephants were passing right through the camp and in the morning a leopard came to drink at the waterhole right next to our tent, very exiting!
I, it's my week-long vacation and stay at Belgium, specifically in Ypres.
Man they have the coolest hotel in there, It's Ambrosia?if i'm not mistaken. well Belgium is a nice place. bicycling to go around the city, but that hotel eally was marked on my mind. So cool, so peacful, and quiet and..what more can I say. Just give it a try .. try searching it, and see for yourself.
Hawaii was nice when I was there, especially because where I live isn't near oceans (middle of the country).
