I posted earlier, Still no sign of my missing cat... Will he come home?

I did some research. I read cats can smell up to 2 miles away. I put some canned food and tuna right outside the window (so other cats wont eat it), hoping he smells it and heads this way. My fiance's put a shirt and socks he wore today out there. I scattered treats on the porch too. We love him very much. He seems very happy. He purred everyday and was so spoiled, you'd think he was a human child. He got frightened and ran from us at the pet store which is about 4 miles away... Does anyone think his chances are good of coming home? Well, of finding his way home? I'm so sad :'(

Look for your cat all throughout the 4 mile radius and put up signs-talk to the people in the areas and ask if they have seen it. Keep looking everyday- check the local shelter also. Post ads online locally also- like pet F.B.I or such.

4 miles is a long way for a scared cat to find there way home- when some of my cats have ran away before & they'd hide in the nearest neighborhood- Once my cat thought it was lost and was only two blocks away and turned wild and I couldn't get him-this was after a week of looking. The other time I had lost a cat it was meowing and so thankful I found him- he was all over me purring and rubbing my face with his.
There is a good chance you will get your cat back if you look and walk the area calling the cat's name.
If you don't look for him or call for him over and over- spending a lot of time and effort the chance is slim. If he has never been outside than you really need to do as suggested.
I hope & pray you find your cat.

Cats are prone to wonder. We had one missing for a couple of weeks and she returned pregnant, so I wouldn't worry too much just yet. There are stories of cats that have traveled for miles and found their way home. I hope your cat returns soon.

Keep trying. Don't give you hopes up. And always check the shelther for found animals.

It all depends, on whether you adopted him as a grown up ... or you raised him from a kitten ...

If you raised him from a kitten ... rest assured, he will return ... though it might take a while ... I mean he could be moonlighting out there having met his love in season ... or just plain hiding out of fear ... or just confused.

But in case you had adopted him when fully grown up ... he will try to return ... but will be confused ... whether to return to you, or try find his first home.

I wish you all the luck.

PS. do let me know when he returns

I'll put my money on the Disney theory they always return home. But, I might hang around the pet store about the same time of day he scurried away.

I prayed to God from the moment we lost him and kept my faith. I had everyone I knew looking and praying. Me & my fiance kept visiting the pet store... 48 hours later... He was back where we lost him, hiding under a thing of wood behind the pet store. THANK YOU FOR EVERYONE'S SUPPORT & PRAYERS! big_smile
