You have to check this out. Are there user pages with viruses and malware?

So I was going through the answer section on HP and when I clicked on a question thread, this popped up from Google chrome (see screen capture below) A warning about detected malware on a Hubber's page. It got me asking, is HP really secure?

I am sure someone will correct me but I do not see how this can be possible other than a link to a  malicious application.  HP only supports a limited variety of HTML tags  so if there is any malware it may be in an image or video.

I'm sure this is just a fluke cuttler. Hubpages and Google are so picky about what is put on their site there is no way this is viable. It may be your computer security settings overreacting. This could very well be the case.

It sounds strange...I have never seen it on a niche site below...I think there might a problem. I've tried accessing the link on a different computer, same thing. That rules out my Anti virus acting up. Its just strange

Indeed it is. I have seen where several people are having this problem on HP.

That's funny, because I just had a message sent to me today, to say that a hubber I had linked to, had malware and viruses on his page. I tried to delete the link (which I don't remember putting on my hub. It wouldnt delete. I had to go into my netflix article and delete the actual words that held the link. The skull symbol was then removed from beside my hub. The same hubber had 2 violation links on my most popular hub. Coincidence?

I would send this information and the name of Hubpages member to the Hubpages Team to investigate if there truly is a problem.

Now that is just strange...Could it be that someone is spreading viruses and malware through links or something of the sort?

I had a message on one of my hubs that there were sites marked as phishing sites. The only links I had on my page were to other hubs. One was Simone Smith's!

Exactly...the site in question is also simone smith's. I wonder who this is.

A lot of people have been running into this.  I don't think there is malware but it seems HP was listed incorrectly somewhere.

I was as surprised as you guys...here is the link to that page
    http://simonesmith.hubpages.com/questio … nspiration
It redirects to the malware detected page. Its the first time it has happened to me and being new here am pretty scared about the security of the site. I just pray it is a glitch.

I just had to clean up a hub for the same reason. Looks like an epidemic.

Hi Jambo? So what do you think might be causing this?

I saw this also, I have a hub with a red skull on it and I removed all my links on the article, hope it will disappear. I imagine the links get hijacked and sneaky redirects get in the tags and pages just like any other site. This may have something to do with the tags that were changed in hubpages policy, and we can no longer choose our own tags when we write a new hub, the policy states that they do it automatically. I am sure hubpages is a major target for hackers, just like facebook, pinterest, email accounts, and countless others that have the potential to spam emails of people already accrued on a list.

Well, it is disappointing the extent people go to in making the online experience to be filled with insecurity. The worst part is the perpetrators normally get away with it coz they are tech smart. Hope it doesn't persist on HP.

I have no idea but wanted to see what others had to say.  It's a constant worry whichever site one is on.  Thanks to others here for suggestions.

Today I got a violation come up on one of my old hubs. The violation was a link to an apparent malware/phishing site, however it was actually a link to a hub from another hubpages user. Seems some users are affected and some aren't.

Wow! something definitely has changed on Hubpages. I received a similar message and CHROME notification about pages with viruses and malware today just like Thomas. Do you think that the pages are being manipulated by unseen forces against particular topics and issues? Will all pages need a new algorithm to repair if this becomes an ongoing problem? I have sent in my report to TEAM HUBPAGES.

BTW - Some more are popping up showing certain Hubpages blocked from view when using Chrome. However, when you copy the link and paste into Safari you CAN view the page with no problem.

As far as we can tell there are several subdomains that are being classified as malware by Google.
This is most likely related to a rogue ad or ads.

There is a forum thread here:
    http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/107643

We have stopped some of the ad campaigns running on the site in order to address the issue.

If you have something similar to report in the future, please post it directly to the forum and not to questions/request.

Dear HP Team Member. Thank you for quick reply via email. Anyone following this thread. Please disregard my suggestion and comment to send in malware links to the Team. They are on the case and resolving the issue.

I just had to clean all the links on one of my hubs. It showed a phishing violation. I did not link up to that particular hub and would not have as it had nothing to do with the hub.

I had a red skull and crossbones on mine and went in and deleted every link. Will start over linking it when Christmas is over and I have more time. I had it checked and it is clear now.
