Hubpages is a site which never before discriminated among its writers. Every body has got a fair chance to write any thing he liked with in the rules and frame work of Hubpages.
However, I am surprised to see that the health contest is only open to the residents of few countries.
There are quality writers writing quality contents in hubpages from every corner of the world. They are enriching the hubpages with their knowledge and act. Millions of viewers are also visiting Hubpages from different parts of the globe.
Then why this discrimination? Are authors from other countries inferior to writers from few countries? Or what else the reason?
Thanks,
Jyoti Kothari
Exactly. It's not discrimination, it's due to the fact that the laws around contests and prizes and such differ in every country. See the post by Jason in the offical thread:

We are working on gradually including more and more of our international hubbers in our contests, but it's not as easy as you might think, legally.
Discrimination! The last cry of a whiner.
I do not believe or feel that the contest is discrimating against any country.
According to law, certain countries may or may not allow participation in contests, gambling and so forth. It may be because of restrictions that are imposed by law that HubPages must withdraw the availability of the contest to these countries for the simple reason that they may not meet these criteria.
For example, Canada may participate with the exception of one province. This province has strict rules and criteria for its residents to participate in contests and gambling.
Certain companies may hold contests, but also enforce regulations as to who the contestants can be. Generally, it cannot be employees, family members and so on.
The Contest being offered by HubPages is NOT being discriminatory; HubPages is adhering to criteria, rules and regulations as set forth by individual countries.
None of the past HubPages contests where money is the prize have ever been open to all Hub writers in all countries. It's not legally possible.
It's not always international either. There are contest all the time in the US that prohibit certain states from participating.

A Contest will provide friendly competition that will boost creativity. I am not sure how many people need this creative boost as much as I do but I am pretty sure many of us will appreciate the contest.

We had three or four HP contests last year. This year, I don't think there has been one yet. I know one was cancelled. The contests challenged me to write. Therefore I say, bring them back!

When I had joined hubpages in June, a lot of excitement was going on about reading and writing hubs on Food. So, I am dying to know how often do we have contests? When will the next contest on hubpages be? Thanks in advance.

Are there any rules or restrictions for arranging unofficial prize contests on HubPages - for example, an author contest?

I'm always confused by the hubmobs and contests. I understand that they are different things. There is hubmob, who all attack a given subject; there are contests, which run for a specific amount of time. Sometimes the two run together, when a contest is run and the hubmobbers...
