The good news is that 56% of my hub traffic today is from search engines. Wait! Don't cheer me yet! The bad news is that I've had a whopping 11 views in the last 24 hours--none of which came from hubpages--but I've heard that doesn't really matter, right?

So I don't know whether I should be excited to get that organic traffic at a higher percentage than it's ever been, or if I should be hanging my head for such a low day! lol

Why Nell! It almosts sounds like you don't want any of us visiting you!

    lol

Two months isn't a real long time. Don't give up!

Oh no! Did I make it sound that way? lol What I meant is that it's better to have outside traffic than inside. Of course I love the visits and comments I get from other hubbers wink

That's great, nell - it means people are searching for what you have on offer, and from outside HubPages, which is even better. big_smile

Read lots, learn lots - you'll keep improving big_smilebig_smilebig_smile

I just checked - I have 44% of traffic from the outside world in the last 24 hours. It takes a long time smile

To agree with everyone else, you're definitely heading in the right direction smile

I now receive over 80% of my traffic from sources outside of HP, the various googles, bing, etc...

For my first few weeks, it was the opposite!  Over 80% was from HP!

    Best of luck!

Thanks, everyone for your comments. I kept telling myself that it was great to have traffic coming from the outside. But I was feeling a little unloved today nonetheless--I'll get over it. There's always tomorrow, too! LOL

depend on your intention, if you join hubpages to sell product and make money from adsense then outside traffic is good. good because they are potential 'buyer'..

but if you join hubpages because you want to make friend then inside traffic is more important for you..

I just checked my Google stats, and I was very surprised that 58% of this months traffic is from Google. But, there are also various percentages from other search engines, and my hubpages traffic is only 7%. I am also very happy with my 78% increase in over all traffic, a lot of which has come from my gay movie hub, which has surpassed 3 of my other hubs in total views, and it is currently my most popular.

Now, if I could just get something going at Amazon, that would be great. I have not received a dime there yet.

Yeah, Amazon hasn't been doing anything for me either. I've had clicks, but no purchases.

What someone told me -- and they were right -- was to wait till I was getting about 500 pageviews a day before I should expect regular amazon sales.

I couldn't say now exactly where I was when they started, maybe 400ish or so, but you get the idea.

Animal sacrifice, ritual dancing, begging, bumper stickers, adverts on blimps, and a regular bout of dialing up strangers and whispering a random url of mine when they answer.

Seems to be working well, but the signs on the blimps are really expensive.

Well, as I said, the blimps are expensive and the pesky lawsuits from the animal rights people aren't exactly cheap either.  I think for 2011 I'll concentrate mostly on the dialing up strangers and shouting in the back yard.

Excellent idea.  Although noticing your handle reminds me that I also intend to try Mass Hypnosis and Psychic Suggestions.  I believe that if I can combine those two things, the world is my oyster.

Assuming that I don't decide to make it a lobster or something else at the last minute. I will put a lot of thought into this; I'm not sure this would be reversible.

    Hi Nell,

I'm on a similar time frame to you, with more hubs.  But similar traffic.

So if you're into hanging heads then mine should be the first one on the block.

Currently I could send every visitor a personal letter of thanks and a signed photo, and still have plenty of free time.

If I didn't have my family to keep me so busy, I'd be right there with you with the personal autographs! haha!

I've heard of a head-bangers club, maybe we could start a head-hangers one? lol wink

That's great smile Unfortunately, I'm so exhausted by all of my munchkins and the day-to-day stuff that comes along too, that at the end of the day, I'm snoring along with them (unless one of them wakes me up lol ). Of course, this is at night, as naps have gone out the window with all of them but my baby. Haha

I think Google traffic coverts well -- most of the time.
