Duplicate Error

When you receive a duplicate error on your post, does it mean that it is duplicate to something that is already on hubpages, or something that is already on the web somewhere, or either?

It goes certainly to everythings that's on the web. If some parts are identical, the duplicate filter will start alarming you(only quotations are pardoned).

You have to write original content which is not published elsewhere by you, means "HAS to be FIRST PUBLISHED here on HUBPAGES"

"You have to write original content which is not published elsewhere by you, means "HAS to be FIRST PUBLISHED here on HUBPAGES" - sorry Ronnie, but that is not true.

Actually "original content" means it must NOT be published anywhere else online at all - even if it is your site where the duplicate content is published, or the hub was published first. Duplicate is duplicate.

HubPages is very strict about enforcing this, and thought they do allow quotations or short credited excerpts, the quotes can only constitute (roughly) less than 1/3 of the total word count. If you are planning a "list" hub - one full of popular quotations or sayings, be prepared to add at least twice the number of words in original content as you have in quotes.

Find the duplicated content. If someone has copied your hub, you can file a DMCA complaint against them and have their article taken down. Plagiarism is rampant online. Material stolen from you can hurt you in searches.
