   How do you feel on a rainy day?
   
   Does rain make you sad and depressed or do you see it as a sign of life and rebirth?  Do you hate to have to get out in the rain or do you embrace it? Does it calm you or make you agitated?

   Rain is awesome. I love to go and go on lonely roads. Yes off course, sometimes I became sad when I remember my affection with the rain.

   It really depends on what day of the week it is, how many days it's been since it last rained, the prospects for the next sunny day, if I had outdoor plans for (that day), and whom I'd be spending the day with.
   I'd prefer not having to go out in the rain and fight the traffic.
   A rainy day on a weekend day can be romantic warmly snuggled up, eating, and watching old movies by the fireplace with your significant other. The contrast between the rain outdoors and the warmth and dryness indoors makes one feel appreciative for having a home.

      Wow dashingscorpio, that's some detail for your rainy day preferences!  Some days I like the rain, others I just long for sunshine, so I understand your dilemma.

   It depends.....if it's been rainy for days on end it agitates me. If we've had a streak of nice weather, then I welcome a rainy day. In the summer I especially like them when I have a lot of things I want to get done in the house because then I don't feel guilty about not being outside.
   On the other hand, when I don't have a lot to do and it's rainy out I love to light candles and just do something that relaxes me.

   I love the rain, and the smell of it, when it mixes with earth.  I feel like the earth has been cleansed, and refreshed after a good rain

   Rain are the tears of God blessing the world. Cleansing and irrigating the earth. I appreciate it, I welcome it and embrace it with tremendous joy. The alternative is the desert. lol

   Rain always lightens my mood. It's also a psychological phenomenon that the human emotion/mood is sometimes directly related to the weather condition. For example, the people living in dry regions would often be more agitated and angry, while the people in rainy regions are ought to be more calm and cool. I'll always welcome rainy days, but wouldn't want it to happen everyday!

      @Sayyeda Zonah, although I love sunny days I am sometimes very depressed on a "beautiful day" but very peaceful on a rainy day. Like you I don't want it to rain every day though

      I wouldn't say I like rain better than sun @peachpurple, but I will often go stand on our porch when it's raining and smell the rain and feel the coolness of it. It's a wonderful feeling.

   A rainy day makes me feel great.
   
   I recently relocated to Portland, Oregon, after living in San Jose, California for 35 years.
   
   It defies logic, I suppose, but uninterrupted dry days under relentlessly cloudless skies is oppressive. On rainy days here, I don't feel guilty about reading the newspaper or a good book inside. I like the sound of the rainfall on the roof.  There's no push to go outside at all.   I don't have to shield my eyes much here (I had cataracts by age 50 down there) or seek the shady side of the street on walks. It is necessary here to make backup plans in case of rain, which reminds people that we are not in charge of everything.  Freeways are bordered by greenbelts, not dried up fields where litter, alone, blossoms.
   
   Rain would be a blessing in California now, not for the beauty it creates, but for a desperate, thirsty population whose numbers and habits have exceeded nature's ability to sustain it.
   
   I guess the only downside to a rainy day is: no golf.

      aharris it seems like Portland is perfect for you   I like how you mention that the rain keeps you flexible in scheduling things--we definitely are not in as much control as we think. And true, our water resources are being depleted.

      I live and go to school in LA. I too would like to see some rain no matter where I am, whatever I'm doing, it would be great if it rained

    Many lookt a rainy day as a negative...I on the other hand see it as an opportunity to do things I don't do on a regular basis..such as cleaning out closets, rearranging and decluttering.! also catching up on Computer work....
    So rainy days to me are just as important as sunny days...although to be truth full ..I get more done on rainy days...Sunny ones are spent by the pool..
    thought to be an interesting question..thx
