   If they had to tell me that they didn't support my marriage, I would have to listen to their reasoning.  Sometimes love is blind and you do need to listen to what your parents and close friends around you have to say about your relationship because they love you and they can see things from a different point of view as they aren't the one in the relationship.  So I would take what they say into account, but then make up my own mind about it.

   Rule number 1. Our parents are more experienced then ourself.
   Rule number 2. If your parents are still living together then it is the sign, (proof) of long lasting love. Follow their footprint, you would have a less chance of regret.
   Rule number 3. There is nothing worse than see your daughter (or your children in general) get suffer.

   Since I live in America, I don't care what my parents think about my relationships. I'm the one who will be marrying the person so I'm the one who should be making the choice. My parents would only do what's best for me economically and socially. I just want to be happy.

   No way. I know they want what's best for me and if they don't like my choice then something is seriously wrong. It wouldn't work. We're a close family where all the in-laws are welcome and liked.
   Anyone worth marrying must fit into the family just like I must fit into his family.
   Even though your life will be with your spouse...if for some reason things don't work out and you end up in divorce, who's help are you going to need? Your parents obviously..so think about it.
