Yesterday one of my chickens produced four healthy chics - this morning I found a fifth chic dead and abandoned in the nest - I actually reported this on my thread Good Morning You Hublicious People - however - I placed the dead chic in a box and placed it in the oven hoping beyond hope I could resucitate it - this evening the chic is eating a little feed and I am drip feeding her/him some water - Its not over the worst yet - still work to do - the chic may not survive - but for me this is a good day smile

I had experience this when one of our chickens lay eggs.  We thought there are only four of them like yours theirishobserver, but when we saw at the nest, there is one that we thought was dead.  But as I got him on my arms, he suddenly moved a little so I immediately gave him water and food and placed him on her mother so  she can hide under her and be warmed.  The chick lived and stayed healthy until now........
