   Many People using HubPages Forums,Answers,Questions, Profiles and even making Hubs to promote their services and business like escort services. Is there anything HubPages can do to stop such things?

      Just flag them down. I been here for five weeks and noticed  that during the weekends such  nonsense fills up the answer section go take a look at the profiles and flag them off. I just did that to two profiles created under an hour but had floated so much spam on the forums and question section.

         Flagging can be done. But the problem is before the moderators take the content down the content gets a lot of exposure which should be avoided. There should be some arrangement to screen such content from appearing in the site.

         I agree. Unfortunately these things is full web and Hubpages is no exception. We can (indeed must) only report profiles that seem suspicious.

   I agree with Sofs. The best way is by going to their profile, then flagging it for review. That feature was recently added in an attempt to deal with spam and such.

   You are correct, and there have been quite a few forum discussions about it. I previously started the thread on "Serial spammers" and also wrote a hub about it, yet the problem remains largely unsolved.

      Yup Anamika ,
      I agree, what can be done to solve this, in fact I had also stared a thread on this.  Even at this  moment we are discussing this we have about thirty questions hanging in there..( all flagged hours ago ) cant we get the HP staff to act faster ...
      Another thing I have been coming across lately is
      Kids getting their home work on line  and
      People with problems asked to share the email id's and contact some hubbers personally.. sounds spooky to me ...
      I am just concerned.

   One idea to get rid of the junk more quickly might be for HP to automate it - for example, they might code it so that if 5 or more hubbers who have been here a certain length of time and have at least a certain hubber score flag something, it gets hidden/removed  at least until staff has had a chance to look a it.

         There is a special topic for photo galleries; if not placed there, they would be considered substandard.

      I did suggest almost the same thing. Those days there used to be a lot of spam on the weekends and there was no one from the HP staff to deal with it.

      I think they have implemented something along those lines, as lately spam is usually gone as quickly as it arrived even when I know the HP team are probably tucked up in bed.

   I've suggested something before about having hubbers be here for a certain amount of  time and writing a certain number of hubs before being granted access to the questions/answers section.
   
   Kind of like how some forums require certain number of posts in threads before users can post in classifieds sections or reply to private messages.

      MY question is
      Why when a question or even a profile is flagged by hubbers it takes forever for admin to take action?
      The damage is done by then... can this be highlighted to HP staff

         They have done the publicity?? I believe a very few people here would visit their websites.
         
         It looks bad in the forums?? People who have been on any internet forum seem to understand that they will see a spammer every now and then.

         Or they don't do anything about it, presumably for their own reasons.  There's on real "piece of work" on here who others have said they've reported.  I flagged this individual too.  I keep seeing this individual still on here and still showing up as other people's followers.     REALLY -  what an obvious "piece of work"!  the individual is, but the Hubs look like they've copied and pasted from reference books (or at least from good writers' online writing) of some sort, so I guess nobody cares if the Hubber is an obvious piece of work.    who obviously can't put together two sentences in the English language when the situation involves communicating with people who have commented on the Hubs.  I just decided that kind of stuff can't be my problem.  I flag if I think I ought to, but that's the extent to which I can worry about what else is on here.

   The damage is a waste of peoples time. I try and ignore spam questions, most of the time you can tell they are just spam. I have flagged some as well.

      You have been here for 9 months and I am sure you won't be wasting more than a second on spam. You can single out spam without even reading it. However a few newbies might find themselves reading spam posts.

         We are just going round in circles ... the question is not whether spam is recognized  by hubbers  or not, if HP doesn't want spam why is it not acting fast???

            If it is so, then maybe the workload is more than the number of employees they have. Just a guess!

   there are keywords that can be selected to stop spamming. an overuse of numbers in a text can be blocked, it's done on other sites i use, am sure it can be done here.
   i sent a contact email to hp today about it, i'm over seeing damn spammers, id rather not use hp than put up with it.
   i flag each and every spam message and also their profile gets a flag from me.
