   AVAST, YE SCURVY DOGS! 
   
   Ye needn't be clickin' away in the forums when instead you can be readyin' yer hub drafts and settin' sail for adventure on September's high seas for the HubPages Marks the Spot contest- a (treasure)map-capsule-filled adventure of location-based hubs.
   
   Details can be found on our contest page, but I'll tell ye right now this be a different kind of adventure in several ways:
   
   -First, MORE LOOT FOR THE LOT OF YE!  That's right.  This month, there are TWO daily $50 winners- one for the Treasure of the Day (the best location-based hub published in a 24 hour period) and one for the Daily Doubloon Drawing).  We also have eight total weekly winners (Pirate's Choice and Best TreasureHub) winning $100, and one Grand HubBucaneer winner, scoring $500.
   
   -Second, instead of offering extra entries in our Daily (Doubloon) Drawing to the person who answers a trivia question, we're offering extra entries to anyone who writes a hub on the Daily Bonus Topic and shares a qualifying link to it on Twitter or our Facebook Post by noon the next day.
   
   -Finally, and most importantly, this contest is not just about the Travel and Places category, it's about our new map capsule, so this is the perfect opportunity for you to better familiarize yourself with this awesome tool!

   Contest is welcome! I published a hub 2 days ago on a detailed Hubpages Video Tutorial on the use of the Map hub tool and what types of hubs can benefit from it. Couldn't have timed it better.

    I live in France, run painting courses, a B&B and gite so the map capsule was a godsend for me. One feature, though, that I could do with is to be able to mark a route. Any chance??

    Really looking forward to this contest! Swore never to speak "Pirate talk," again, the last time I was made to walk the plank for drinking the Captain's rum - but will certainly enjoy this experience, nevertheless.
    
    A quick question I have is whether it is compulsory to have 3 to 5 locations on each Hub, or whether a Hub will still qualify and receive equal consideration if it is built around only one location? The reason I ask is that I live in a semi-rural area and would find it difficult to include 3 to 5 popular locations of the same type lumped together - I can't imagine how those who live in extremely rural areas will cope, in this respect. I feel that I would have to sacrifice quality to some extent in the name of quantity.
    
    Thanks for organising another great contest, Simone, and all at Hub Pages. The simple act of taking part can be great fun and a welcome break from the norm.

       I am in a rural area.... I've just published my first hub for this 'event', and am now here to find out "the rules".... hadn't realised there was a 3-5 ruling... yes, that does make it difficult.
       
       I've just done a maize maze .... and I could do the pub it's behind ... but after that the village doesn't even have one horse and there's absolutely nothing whatsoever around it for about 7 miles

          We say "ideally" - it's not mandatory to write about multiple locations- you can do just one of you want to
          
          That said, even if it's a rural area that you're in, you can still write about multiple locations- for example, you can write about the Best Hardware Stores on Cornwall UK or you can profile local hangouts or grocery stores or historical spots or good places to park... the options are endless! 
          
          One more thing - the contest doesn't start until September 1st, so any hubs published before that aren't eligible.  I recommend you start writing drafts, but that you don't publish until the contest starts.
          
          Also, be sure to publish within the theme of each week (See the contest page for details) to make sure you qualify.
          
          Hope that clears some things up!

       You can certainly qualify even if you don't have Google Adsense set up.  So long as your hubs are eligible, they'll be considered XD

          Yep... I could see it on a Charcoal gray shirt, with the gray background on the design a little darker than the shirt. My dad has plenty shirts that are a medium gray with darker gray designs. They look good. I'd buy one. Ha.
          
          Jane, more than likely, there's not a problem doing that. I've done that with the past contests without problems.
          
          Unfortunately, I won't be in this one. I generally write my location hubs as I go there or try out the food. I have written many for Florida malls and Atlanta restaurants.. Well, not many but a few.

             Do keep in mind that you don't have to write about particularly "special" locations - hubs on local hardware stores, grocery stores, parks, hikes, good, safe parking lots, etc... are SUPER useful and totally qualify!
