   Is it the end? Just another day? There will be some interesting things happening in 2012. 3 eclipse, galactic allignment, a large comet coming toward Earth? What do you think?

            Personal opinion - it marks the astrological change at Winter Solstice (summer solstice if you're in the Southern Hemisphere) in 2012 away from the constellation of Pisces and into the sign of Aquarius. Each shift through those constellations lasts around/approx 2000 years. It's not the end of the world. It's just a change in the astrological sign we're moving through

   If you mean the ending of the (current) Mayan long count calender of 5,126 years, on the 21st December, 2012, absolutely, some things which to consider to be big as an event, will indeed happen.
   
   As Bianca stated a Winter/Summer solstice will occur and the sun will be in line with the galactic center for the first time in 26,000 years.
   
   An apocalypse to occur on this date? Absolutely not. Not sure how this started, maybe it is from a fear of the end dates of calenders which may spawn a belief in major catastrophic events to occur.
   
   We survived the end of 1000AD and Y2K through 2000, so on 2012 on the 21st of Dec, raise your glass and toast to the ancient Mayans for the end of an era.

   No one knows when the end is coming, and instead of bothering with when it will end we should live life to its fullest, so that even when it does end we would have had a fulfilling life without any regrets

   Kangeroo, I feel the same. To many ancient culture point to this event. They were separated by thousands of miles and came up with the same date. It's to ironic, don't you think. It might not be the end, but something important will happen around that time. You can count on it. This is the most important day in our future, and it is most certain, to have some importance.

   The world may not end, but it will be a very interesting year!  First the election in the US, second world food supplies could be very short.  Oil prices could be astronomical.
   I have never seen cash cattle prices this high before!  Corn is going higher almost every day!  Speculators are jumping on the oil bandwagon in greater numbers.  It is going to be a bumpy ride!

    Every single time I ask a Japanese person (I've been living in Japan for 4 years) "what would you do if the world were going to end tomorrow?", they always reply with "I'd probably go to sleep".

    Well they say a comet is supposed to come pretty close to us, in terms from space. It is still many miles away. The astroid is almost the size of Jupiter. If it came real close, its gravational pull can throw us for a loop. Now, if it would come close. Do you guys find it odd that all these ancient civilizations share the same day?

    Surely everybody can just grow up a little and realise that this isn't going to happen. Has anybody seen or heard of any academic/ intelligent/ person over the age of 12 discuss this seriously?

    I don’t know about you but based on this prediction I have excavated a 19,000 cubic foot area under the slab of my house. Installed air filtration and electrical generating systems, sunk a 900 ft deep well and stocked up on 4 years worth of food and 2 wars full of ammunition. I'm ready to escape
    
    All I need now are, many more cases of scotch, part of a glacier and a cute Brazilian maid.

    The hour ends; the day ends; the week ends; the year ends and 2011 will end. 2012 will also end. How things end is only known at the ending. Why worry about 2012, when 2011 has just begun. Life ends as well. Make the best of this year. Enjoy and prepare for 2012 and beyond, like you prepared the past years for 2011.

    I really do think that there will be events that happen on this day, December 21 2012. Whether it is global distruction, I don't know. There have been many signs left here for us to notice. Past civilizations didn't draw or write all this for nothing. The Y2K was made up. This is something more spectacular. History will always repeat itself. It happened before, millions of years ago. It could happen again.
