   Short answer: Yes, but it takes time.  Many hubbers have written hubs of their first few months experience (including me - I reviewed my time up until first adsense payout); you might search out a handful and read them to find what you might expect to see.
   
   First payout ($100 from adsense) can take anywhere from a few months to years.  It all depends on how hard you will work and how much time you are willing to spend in learning the ropes.

      Hi and welcome to hubpages.
      
         Wilderness is right about adsense payouts. It may be around 9 mo.s before you see a payout. However the Hubpages Ad program I believe is a better way to earn money. By June this program will be rolled out to everyone on Hubpages. I am doing much better in terms of earnings with Hubpages AD program than with Adsense at this time and I am also fairly new to the Hubpages community. I hope my feedback helped a little.

   With all these changes I am wondering if we are even realistic anymore..for a new hubber it is certainly going to take much longer to establish himself/herself.

   Hi hannaholson, Welcome to Hubpages!  The answer is most definitely... but (yes there is always a but) it might take months to a year or maybe more to see your first payout cheque from Adsense.  Hubpages has introduced its own Ads and should be offered to everyone by June.  I am also fairly new here in HP, a little more than five months, but I have been earning some, not much.. but I am earning a few bucks.  You can also earn money on Amazon by selling Amazon products in your hubs.. this has restrictions tho' which you have to learn.  I read your two hubs and they are pretty good.. you have a future here in HP.. just keep on writing.  Best wishes.

   Welcome to Hubpages, hannaholson!  It is not a quick rich scheme. To earn anything, first of all you need to learn how to be a good hubber.
