What would you pick for the topic as in the easiest one for you and would it be a poem or not?
I doubt very much that something spewed out in 30 minutes or less could be called true poetry.
However, there is little true poetry to be found these days. Perhaps the assumption being made here is one of the reasons.
In poetry, every word is vital, and sometimes days may be spent finding just one word that is exactly right.
Hey WriteAngled, "TRUE" poetry? Oh, come on. Isn't that a bit much.
@OP
As for writing hubs in 30 minutes, like Schoolgirl has said, I used to challenges of that sort. It's conscious writing and any topic is a go for anyone attempting it.
There were times where I would state that poems/poetry wasn't allowed, because it doesn't actually fit the criteria for the challenge. The challenge is about writing more than 400 words through conscious thought.
During those challenges, I have written articles on just about anything and everything. The shortest article written during a challenge was about 750 words.
Hey, remind me what OP stands for.
I must support Cagsil and myself, for every poem I write takes usually 5 mins but that's just me, I have a gift
Poem could be a great choice when mood and thoughts are flowing. I have come to realize that I do better when I write a post in longer time.
Cagsil used to do 30 minute hub challenges - I think my best hub was around 800 words, on how to sell Amazon items on Hubpages.
I would think the topic would be secondary to achieving the flow of your pen. Sometimes the best writing is derived from free writing, and allowing your thoughts to just wander. Sometimes whatever is kikin around inside is the best, regardless of specific topics.
I have penned many tracts which were not a "topic" persay to begin with, but in the end they were about one topic or another.
I agree with TM Mason that whatever is on your mind is the best,
Of course my idea came from Cagsil's challenges of 30 mins
And as for me, I would either write a poem (IF I had the passion to..which most time I could).. or whatever is on my mind..
lately I've been writing poems 90% cause I consider myself not up to more at this time.
Again, I must say, as a poetry veteran you may say that it doesn't take several days to write a poem, Epigramman spits out witty poems daily and more than one or two daily. In my other acct blondey, I also write mostly poetry. It takes me 5 mins to write down a poem..I prob could improve them a bit, and some I have..but when you have the ability and also the passion in the moment, it all comes easily...ok nuff said.
Hey Schoolgirl,
Please do not give me credit for the 30 Minute Instant Hub Challenge. I was only a participant. The original idea came from Shadesbreath, just to let you know.
I don't write much on hubpages, but most of my hubs were written in less than 30 minutes. Once I know what I'm going to write about, it's easy. Typing away!
I have used the 30 minute challenges to get an idea down that I had been procrastinating on. There is something about turning it into a challenge that makes it fun instead of tedious.

Simple rules:1. Do NOT start writing hub until I (as in ME only) says, IN this thread, "GO"2. One Hub. You have 30 minutes to write it, from scratch. (you can have your word doc open in advance etc., obviously, just no writing). No cheating and using something you started before.3....

How much time do you normally require to write a hub on the average? I am asking this because I can easily write a hub within 30-40 minutes time and sometimes a hub will take a couple of hours or so. BUT food hubs are taking a lot longer to complete, maybe because I haven't written much articles on...

I'd love to know your answer to this question. And I'm not speaking of answers such as, "Finding more time to write." Let me help you out by listing a few of my own challenges. You can select one of these or add your own. Thanks for sharing. - A. Finding a...

How much time do you spend researching your hubs?

I'm interested in poetic process. I personally believe the real writing comes in the editing stage and that all first drafts, without exception, are abysmal. As a result, I edit and rewrite a piece multiple times over days and sometimes weeks before I deem a poem acceptable for...
