low scores on hubpages

   I just wrote a really good article about raising children.  My hubscore was 46.  How come such a low score?  How do they score our articles?  On what do they base the scores on?  I don't get it.  I'm pretty original and have a good writing voice.  I don't understand it.

      They start out low and have to work their way up in a day/couple of/few days.  They start around the middle (which on a 0 to 100 scoring is in the area of 50, plus-or-minus a few).

      I'm a member for almost two years now and every time I publish a new hub I start with the hubscore between 47 and 50. The score increases over time and it rarely drops below 70. My average hubscore fell to 78 after the Panda update (it was almost 90 before the update). I think the scores will go up after the Hubpages cleanup.

   HubScore takes into account many factors and will change over time as data about its performance continues to stream in. It will also fluctuate quite a bit, seemingly at random, and that is nothing to worry about. The most important HubScore components that you should be concerned with include:
   
       Amount of traffic - including percentage from reputable sources other than HubPages
   
       The reputation of the Hubber - your Hubber Score and contribution to the community
   
       The response of readers to your Hub - including comments, thumbs up, etc.
   
       The uniqueness of content - copying content already available on the web will be highly penalized
   
   We reserve the right to change the factors used to assess a Hub’s HubScore as we continue to determine those that measure a great Hub. The bottom line is if you write original, useful content, your HubScores will eventually reflect the quality and work you've put into your Hubs. Please try to avoid getting too hung up on your Hubs' HubScores.

      That's cool.  I love to write.  It just comes natural.  However, I will say I do get writers block once in a while.  I recently self published my first book.  Black Roses.  Its a mystery.  I'm going to learn from this experience if I decide to ever publish again.  Should get my first royalty check soon.  It seems like it's doing well so far.  It didn't get picked to be a movie.  None of the producers needed my type of book for a movie right now.  That was like winning the lottery.  We didn't know what things they were looking for.  Oh well.  I do have an upcoming trip to SC pretty soon for a tv interview about the book, so am excited about that.  And with my advertising, 21 places requested a copy of my book so I should be emailing them in a few weeks to follow up.  One place was Entertainment Weekly online and another was Hooters magazine.  We'll see what happens.

   Sometimes, if you create a Hub and save it but don't publish it, and let it sit for a few days, its score will start above the 50 mark. I've seen this many times.
   
   Meanwhile, your Hub about tips for raising children has some good info, but your title says nothing about raising children. You can change the title to draw readers to your Hub. Maybe the title could be: Would you like to hear some good tips on raising children?

         I started out calling it raising children, but it wouldn't let me do it.  It said all those titles were already taken.  I'll try the one you said and see what happens.
