Citing Reference Sources - "Overly Promoitonal"

   I'm pretty new to HubPages (joined 6 weeks ago but got "busy" about 2 weeks ago posting Hubs) -- I got spanked last week and had a hub taken down temporarily for citing direct links to the particular information relating to multiple parties (all of which linked to SEC.gov, but different information on lobbyists and campaign contributions to party leaders).  I did move the cited material to my own website and kind of had to strip it from the Hub (as it stands now, the Hub is pretty naked).
   
   I kind of abandoned the "offending" Hub and branched into smaller, more digestible pieces -- but that just offers a "pixel" of the "big picture" and makes it all the more difficult to bring it all back together.
   
   There's a lot of information out there regarding Capital One (who is trying to purchase ING/HSBC) that seems to have been glossed over.  How do you generate traffic?  And how do you "piece" the "spin offs" back into the "big picture" without citing the source or being "overly promotional"? 
   
   Is the "overly promotional" warning due to citing the references as footnotes and not directly linking to the information in the article (using the linking tool and not putting the cites at the end)?
   
   And I could certainly use a good editor -- I seem to be having a time of it getting the "offending" Hub focused on flowing from one topic into another.  The offending Hub:  http://perryfender.hubpages.com/_pfsaga … uld-say-NO

      1) Do NOT link every citation. If you just want to give reference, put them at the end and only put in the URL, but NOT actual links.
      
      Overly promo means you linked too many times to ONE website. That is bad.
      
      2) What I do is as follows:
      
      One master hub, which links to all the other hubs, but it has enough content to stand on its own. Think of it as the "general intro / foreward / teaser", and if they want more details, send them to one of your other hubs where the topic is discussed in more detail.
      
      A bunch of other hubs where the topic is discussed in detail (or "more" detail)
      
      A blog where you post quick updates that doesn't belong to any particular hub. Periodically you can combine / rewrite content from the blog into new hubs.

         Thanks -- I think I follow you.  And I think that just might help cut the "big" hub into a more manageable piece to stand on its own too!  Now granted, that should also keep me busy writing for about a month too --   That's a good thing!

      According to that link, "Links to well-known Web resources which you don't have any personal interest in (like Wikipedia, news sites, encyclopedias, open directories, etc.) are exempt from this limitation." -- My Hub should not have been tagged since the references were to mostly the SEC and the other to "opensecrets.org" -- neither of which do I have any affiliation.  I would tend to lean towards the "opensecrets.org" references now..... hmmmmm.....
      
      And the "spin offs" link to news cites, some of which are referenced many times, but different articles (i.e., New York Times).  So now I'm befuddled --

            Thanks again -- now to pull it "all together" and then do just that.  Like I said, I kind of stripped it naked then left it at an "abrupt halt" and did "spin offs" to detail the points.  I'm working on the SEC references now and how to search their website for corporate contributions and campaign finance disclosures.  Before I published it, I did want to ask -- I seriously don't want to get tagged again and risk being banned.  I like having a platform to provide a longer sustaining "voice" than a comment to a singular article.  This place seems to offer just that --

   Hi. I am having the same problem and am getting rather frustrated.  I have published 6 hubs with no problems...then all of a sudden they are ALL tagged as being overly promotional.  I have read all the notices and contacted the staff directly only to get another automated message...no help.  I need specifics.. For a new comer I get rather good traffic and great comments on my writing and photos...so what has changed?  Can you look at my hub

      The first thing that stands out is that you have many links to additionstoour table. That will get you flagged as overly promotional. The limit per Hub is two links to the same external domain.

   Ok.  I took them all out and am still getting a warning.
   
   Could it be the section at the bottom titled ~ We invite you to visit our website ~ ... ?  I really do not want to change all my other hubs until I figure out why this is happening.  I really want to get this figured out before I post my next hub later today.  Thanks for your time.

      I just took a quick glance at some of your other Hubs, and I see the same pattern of too many occurrences of your external URLs. In addition, there are so many links to your external sites, across your multiple Hubs, that your entire account could be considered overly promotional.
      
      Limit links to your external sites to one per Hub, or none. The proper place for links to your other sites is in your author profile, and I see you have them well covered there.
      
      Once you've corrected the excessive linking for all your Hubs, the warnings should go away after some time. If they don't, then contact the HubPages team again, explaining the corrective measures you took.
