Forget the major parties for a moment... what is your true political philosophy? We usually simplify things into Republican, Democrat, Moderate, Independent because of voting choices for the elections, but where would you stand if your vote were the only one that mattered?

Myself, I'm in favor of much smaller government. Not to the point of being a 'true' Minarchist, but I would say I'm about halfway between where we are, and minarchism. I believe the appropriate response is to look at any function, and unless you can justify that we 100% absolutely need it, keep the government out of it. Government should mostly exist to protect us, both internally/externally, and to protect freedom(I have a broad definition of freedom).

My political chart would look like this:

    http://www.politicalcompass.org/charts/crowdgraphpng.php?Economic=5.0%2C-5.0&social=0.0%2C-5.0%3Cdiv%20style=

Quite conservative economically, and moderate socially, but always in favor of limited government(especially federal).

I was almost in the exact center. My pals are always arguing about what I am, politically speaking. lol

Jax, you're a smart guy. Please tell me where I fit!

      2nd Amendment - strongly support
      states' rights - support
gay marriage - fine with me
      smaller federal government - yes
less policing the world - yes
      personal responsibility - yes
      government programs - some
      illegal immigration - no!
censorship - no, not for adults
ACA - some parts of it
government picking winners and losers in business - no
      death penalty - against
life in prison without parole - yes
      sex education - yes
abortion - Personally, I hate it, but I think it has to be legal - when done EARLY.

You didn't put in much about financial/economic policies, but socially you sound much like me.

It's hard to really put yourself on a chart, because there is quite a difference between what is considered left in the US compared to other parts of the world, so there's no real agreement on exactly what the chart means... but putting yourself on it is more accurate than the test they give, lol.

Can you link to where you did your chart? Or did you draw it yourself?
I would like to do mine.

Beleive it or not, moderate economic view, moderate social issues views, I am not interested in smaller govt, for its own sake. I want efficiency that leads to toward smaller and leaner, but that is not my sole concern.

You have to specifically catagorize as ny idea of moderate may not synch with yours...

So, pretty much dead-center in all regards?

Yes, Jaxson, but I do lean left of center, but I am not wearing flowers in my hair. There is a comment from Maxi that explained my economic position very well. Free enterprise capitalism with a government as big as needed to make sure that everyone plays by the same rules and needs of society inconsistant with the profit motives of business is always considered. We lefties are practical people, not just quiche eaters. I lean progressive in the debates on social issues, more so however.

Liberal in terms of abortion, gay marriage, and women's , racial, and children's rights.   Somewhat conservative in terms of economics.   While believing that some people need help to get them out of poverty, others have develop a victimology and rescue me mentality- such people need to help themselves.     That is all I have to say at this point,  BTW, where are my manners, Good and Blessed Morning to you all on the posts.

      P.S.  Jaxson, good question!

I didn't expect you to be that far left, or that far down. Is that the result you got from taking the test?

A socialist. According to your chart, I would situate myself extreme left libertarian. Economically I would favor free entreprise with a strong government watchout to avoid any corrupt behavior.
