I wrote a hub about plus sized shopping online and have gotten a email from a online retailer asking if I would be interested in reviewing them and adding them to the list and become an affiliate with them to earn 8 percent commission. I checked their site and it is great and would be happy too add them to my list, but are we allowed to have other affiliates? They also asked me to write several more articles (they had some suggestions) pertaining to this market. I don't really know how to go about this...any suggestions? Thanks!

Yes, you are allowed to use up to two affiliate links to the same website per Hub.  This sounds like a great opportunity for you and I think you should go for it.  Just make sure that the Hubs aren't "overly promotional."

Sheri, HP only allows Ebay and Amazon affiliates. If you have your own site, you can add the retailer and become an affiliate for them.

However, I'd jump on the opportunity to write more articles for them. Just make sure you retain rights, get a byline and that they pay you.

This is incorrect.  Many Hubbers use affiliate links other than Ebay and Amazon.

Thanks everyone! Writerfox I don't really know the techy bit but I just filled out their application, so I hope I did it right! I had no idea we hubbers could do this!! Might make some money! Thanks for your help. Do you use second affiliates?

I don't.  But if a good specific product-related opportunity arose, I would.  I mean, it would have to be something I really wanted to endorse.

I agree, but their web site is classy and tasteful and really does suit this hub and lingerie can be a real challenge for the bigger ladies. So...I will try it out!

This is not true.  We had this cleared up by hubstaff recently, in text affiliate links are allowed under the same terms as any other link.

True. I was referring to the affiliate accounts we sign up for in the earnings area. There's no way to pull in a link to a product as there is with Amazon and Ebay. However, including a link to the retailer in the text, as Shari did in her article, is perfectly okay.

You can link to a product by using the product page url with your affiliate ID added to it.  You just have to arrange the picture of the product and text yourself rather than having it automated.

Awesome. Good to know. Thanx! I had septic company contact me about a year ago wanting to advertise on my hubs. I turned them down because I didn't think it was allowed. :-(

I thought the same until recently--I can understand why it is not an option HubPages emphasizes, but it is nice that they allow it

The thing to watch is that HubPages allows reputable affiliate links in the text.  HubPages does not provide a link of approved schemes, so you have to be careful.  However, basically most are fine provided the link leads to a proper website, not to some spammy "Special offer!  Read all about it!  Buy Now!" type of landing page.  So that means Clickbank is not allowed because all their links are like that - but retailers' own schemes are usually fine.

Thanks Marisa, that makes sense and I would hate it if that type of thing was on hubpages. This site is not like that at all, very classy and well done and I researched reviews about them on the net and it is all up and up. So I am going to do it!!

Thanks Marisa, and I am glad HP doesn't allow those types of links...I HATE THEM! I checked out this site and did a google review search and feel confident this link will be useful to the readers.

Are affiliate links allowed at HP? How can we add them?

Younghopes, go into your account and click on earnings. You can configure the affiliates there. HP allows AdSense, Ebay, Amazon and HP earnings.
