Are you fastidious in usingreferral tracker links when promoting hubs?

   I have tried to condition myself to use the referral tracker links whenever promoting my hubs. Sometimes I forget. Does anyone see any value in using them? Just wondering.

   For fellow hubbers who don't know where to get the referral tracker links, at the bottom of each hub, the "link to this hub" option populates a window in which you'll find a link to the hub which contains your referral code. This is true for your profile page as well. There is a default code for each hubber, but if you want to create a specific code, you can do so from your earnings menu by selecting the referral tracker tab then filling in the info for the new referral tracker. I try to create a new one every three months.

      No I tend to use just one. They can be used as unique to each Hub or as unique to each traffic source and I can never decide which to use. I am leaning toward one for each traffic source as analytics will show which Hub is doing best. Still haven't actioned it though!

      I use the referral tracker links consistently.  In 5 years,  30 referrals and 5 sign-ups, and 8 hubs from referrals. Not much BUT... I have recently discovered that all of the unwanted posts on Facebook, I constantly reply to these with links to my hubpages using the referral tracker.  Good results.  If they spam you,  then by all means,  spam them!

      It certainly never hurts to use them.   Don't expect too much, because most people who sign up under your referral will never get around to writing much - but you will get one or two people who take it seriously.  You don't earn much from a referral but it will give you a nice fuzzy feeling to see your "protege" do well!

         I had someone sign up, but they never did a thing.  I think they thought they needed to sign up to post a comment. It was fun while the delusion lasted!

      oh yes, i always use "link to this hub" in the share medias but nobody sign up. Maybe they don't know?

      I used to use it every time I shared someone's Hub. Never saw much results so don't think about doing it much now.

      At first, I thought it would be interesting to experiment where the traffic comes from, so I created different ones for each source - Facebook, etc., but I really don't think that referrals add that much income, so all that analysis isn't necessary. It's much easier to just use the same one everywhere..

         I agree, and if you choose one that's easy to remember (it's best to use a real word, it doesn't have to be a meaningless string as that can make your URL look suspicious) then it's easier to use.

      Hi there! I've always been a fan of using the referral tracker. I don't always use it but I do try to apply it to my own websites, social media profile links and for the occasional social media post. There is more than one benefit to using a referral tracker;
      - new sign ups; I've had 22 hubbers sign up under my tracker, some have done well and others don't. Either way...a penny is a penny is a penny.
      - links to hubs; you will earn off of any purchases made on the hub you used the referral link on.
      - stats; I just checked my data and my referral links have lead to over 2.1 million clicks. That is 2.1 million opportunities for someone to either sign up on HP or to make an ad click/purchase.
      
      consider trackers as another opportunity to earn and as another way to evaluate if your links are effective.

   I like this idea. I have been thinking about creating just one general one, and then one for each social media site I post the links to. But, haven't decided for sure.

   Well, the only use i have for them is knowing how many visitors i get from specific sources like social networking sites. Other than that, I was hoping that someone would sign-up through my tracker but it never happened. I guess it's useless for that purpose unless it's the intended purpose. Recently, i've stopped using them because i'm to lazy to reach for it at the bottom. *teehee*

      It is a bit tedious having to go to the bottom of the page to copy the code. It seems to me it would be more logical to have them available from the dashboard menu at the top on the black banner.

         What you can do is create your own code that is easy to remember, then you can simply insert it yourself.

   I was and still do for Google + but it no longer works correctly for me on Facebook.  It will not display the image - so the link looks boring and worthless.

      Solares   Use this tool for Facebook: https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object/
      
      Put url of hub into it.    Once debugger has cleaned it, then try putting link in FB again.
      
      If debugger does not work, report the hub that only shows up as a link on FB and copy the information that the debugger provides and send it to HP.  It is usually some coding issue at HP.
      
      I have seen this happen over and over and over. Yet image etc will show up on Pinterest Google Plus, etc. It is a HP issue that they need to fix.

   There are some sites that do not permit referral links. I can't remember which ones now exactly, but it was something common like Facebook or Pinterest.  Referral links are handy, because you get revenue not only for people who read your hubs, but also additional revenue if they stay on the site for a while, reading other hubs or signing up themselves.    I noticed recently that some of the social media sites where I use referral trackers remove the tracker code part of the URL. This happens when I use the link option for posts. So, I've started including the URL with the text in the message as well.
