This is may be of interest:

There is quite a significant write off competition coming up in October and running through December.
It is solely for poets who feel their voice deserves to be heard and done so in a way that will enhance their reputations, page/site views and provide substantial secondary publishing options.
The most interesting part of the challenge is that it involves teams of 5 individual writers, who collectively submit 5 collaborative works in selected genre covering 5 different subjects.
If you would like to join other poets from all over the globe, consider that you write great poetry and will enjoy collaborating with others - then tell us all about it here & express your interest.
Official Invitations and comp rules etc are due to be released in September. Original work only.
As a poet and having met many others here, I'm pretty sure that we can field a few HP teams with a chance of Spectacular Stardom smile
Anyone else want to hone their skills and showcase the depth of their talent?
I'm not going to give anymore info away at this stage, other than to say from what I've seen so far this challenge (and sponsorship) is excellent.

Very interesting news. I am not a poet, but would like to see whoever participates in this and love to read their creations. I like reading poetry with great admiration.

What I like about it is that they intentionally haven't posted anything online yet and aren't going to do any promos until mid September. That gives the initial group of invitees time to build their teams before the free for all of applicants starts. Collaborative writing is becoming very popular in the writing circles I'm associated with and some excellent books have been published as a result. Each group writer does one or two chapters and all share the proceeds. There are some great new and not so new writers out there, I'm sure you will find some good reading coming from this event.

Would you tell us more about it? For example, who's allowed?

That will depend on the number who register an interest in the tourney by posting their availability here.  With my team entry I'm allowed to refer entry to only another four teams of 5... (20 other poets) My team is already full. But there might be others here who have received the same invite as I got and can also refer 5 teams as well?
Those who want to respond to this thread will get their info & entry pack mailed to them in the first week of September & subject options in the second week once a team leader is nominated.

Is this a HubPages contest, by the way?

Nope, No, Nah... definitely not!  This is way bigger than a HP comp... a world comp... first of its kind. But there are still some good poets here who I know would appreciate the opportunity - HP is the common ground we share. The teams can call themselves whatever they like.. But perhaps HP wants to sponsor a couple of teams smile

            Who is sponsoring this comp?

As I stated earlier... I'm not prepared (under agreement) to disclose any more information than what I have already... this is merely a heads up to the poets here and not one that is intended for social media announcement etc. The sponsors I'm sure have paid for THAT privilege... But there's enough in what I've said to read between the lines... It's entirely up to you guys whether you want to join in... personally, getting 20 poets on board from the 100s I know and communicate with, is just a 2 second post   I opened this thread solely for the benefit of HP poets.

Um, so who is actually running this thing? And how will "invitations" be distributed?

If you read through the previous posts, I've tried to give all the clues - without letting the cat out of the bag and getting myself disqualified via the agreement to not disclose the details prior to its launch. sad

Just out of curiosity, what's to stop someone from posing as five different people using five different emails and doing the contest solo?

Because I know someone who would totally do that.

Hahaha... Let's just say Bon Chance to them!
There's a very professional team screening process that will blow that one out of the water smile
Besides, anyone who has the ability to express themselves in 5 different writing personalities and styles should be writing best selling books rather than entering a team comp!

Words like 'professional screening process' have never fazed this person.  But knowing this person as well as I do I think any entry fees this contest charges will be enough of a deterrent.  smile

Well... it's actually free - probably because poets generally get a rough deal income wise from their writing endeavors and the organizers are out to change that dynamic.

All of it somehow sounded like discussing inside a glass-house, the benefits of living in an Igloo, or like the Native Americans

Anders.... You've probably got a good sense of humor & so do I - But this is a Serious thread and as the OP I really don't appreciate it being hijacked with links and references to other irrelevant issues!

        Your poetry thread was jacked
        by a troll without tact
        promoting his new scheme.
He will not be on my poetry team!

Well mate, it seems all you've managed to achieve is wetting your own boots! I've asked you to desist from p...ing all over my thread and you're giving me a one finger salute! Now that you've lost any chance of entry via my posts here... I guess you have no other reason to contribute to the thread... Cya!

I've already reported this thread as being spammy and promotional

  10. God shet profile image60
    God shetposted 8 years ago

What I pointed out earlier on this thread wasn't actually irrelevant. Because we discussed something like the 'reliability of online content, in general'; quite recently.

And your example of a 'comp' helps highlight why the world need a 'HubPedia', indeed.
