   Just curious, which is best ebay or amazon
   I have been here about 5 months and have not earnt a cent with amazon.  Just joined ebay.  So was wondering which is the best.

   If you look at the services, I would probably say that Amazon would earn more for you then eBay. The only reason I say this, is because eBay aren't entirely clear on a percentage that you gain from each sale, while Amazon say that sales start at 4% and can rise to 10%. I infer from eBay's reluctancy to post a specific percentage, that their payment per sale is less than Amazon.

   I have never had a sale from ebay or amazon.  I just like the pictures for illustrative purposes.

      Me either but I have been here a relatively short time. I'm experimenting with some new creative capsule placements with EBay and Amazon on my next hub to see how that goes. I think experimenting is a good thing to do, to get the ads to blend with the article content so that people will want to click and check out the products.

   I think I get more ebay sales than amazon, but of course it varies. I think I've made like $200 on ebay within the past 2 payment periods and about $80 on amazon for the same period.
   
   
   
   They are actually pretty clear about the earnings. It depends on the number of sales you make. I forget what the actual tier is, though. But I know it jumps from 4% to 6% pretty easily. Then 6.5%. After that, the number of sales to increase your payment tier jumps a good bit. But, you start over every month.
   
   Edit: here's the pay structure for the performance structure:
   1 - 6 sales= 4%
   7 - 30 sales= 6%
   31 - 110 sales= 6.50% 
   111 - 320 sales= 7.00% 
   321 - 630 sales= 7.50% 
   631 - 1570 sales=  8.00% 
   1571 - 3130 sales=  8.25% 
   3131 + sales = 8.50% 
   
   But, electronics are always 4% no matter what level you're at, and $25 for personal computers.
   
   The classic structure is 4% not matter your sales.

   I haven't had much luck with Amazon either, and have only just joined eBay.  I like them anyway because they add a little more colour and variety to a Hub, so I'm happy for them to be there!

   Sibaire, Sorry  just reread your comment. Ebay, is pretty clear, as well. You get 50% of their earnings per sale. They earn like 8% I think. I don't remember, but I do know that they just upped the overall ebay percentages per sale fairly recently.

   So remember you get 50%. And after you have a certain dollar's worht of sales it goes up to 55%.

    One thing I do notice - I'm finding I have lots of Hubs where I can't use eBay, because I can't think of any relevant products. On Amazon, I can almost always find something relevant by using the ASIN method and selecting specific books or products.  On eBay, because it's keywords only, I can end up with some weird stuff!

    I do far better with Ebay than with Amazon. With Amazon I'm lucky if I make minimum pay-out per quarter. With Ebay, I earn a fair amount each month, including the $25 for each ACRU (new Ebay member).

    embitica do you have to a have a specific link to get the $25 sign up for EBay or is OK so long as your cookie is on their PC when they sign up?

    It's just the cookie on their pc. They have to sign up and then they have to bid. If they don't bid on something within, I think, 30 days, you don't get paid for the sign-up.  However, they don't have to win.... I think Ebay just wants proof they'll eventually be an active user.
    
    If I remember correctly, the cookie for registered Ebay users is 7 days and the cookie for unregistered users is 30 days.

    Thanks everyone for all those comments.  I will put some of both there on hubs then.  I sell on ebay so might as well use them .
    How do you get the cookie on there...Actually I better go and read some more.
    Going away for 2 weeks so will do when I get back.  Have fun.

    Eileen, the cookie is automatically set in the computer of the person who clicks one of the items in your ebay capsule. There are exceptions, though. Sometime the cookie can be blocked when the person has a cookie blocker, but other than that you get whatever commissions and sign ups when the person clicks the items that you show on your hubs.
