Help me to understand how to improve my hubs traffic by using keywords. For some reason that I cannot understand I do not get a lot of traffic. I also do not get any clicks. I really have tried to do the right thing so I can start earning a small income on line but it is overwhelming me giving me a no hope at all feeling. I will keep on going till I drop however. There must be a way to start to earn a small income online so I can begin to earn a little money. The landlord is at the door. The time has come. After searching online for an answer to my problem I find that I am more confused than ever.Everybody assumes you know the basic way the system works ,so they take for granted that you know what you are doing. But this so far from the truth. I have no idea what the hell I am doing . Please help me to understand! regards brownlickie
I know it's overwhelming when you first start learning about web promotion - I was at the same place a year ago. Have a look at my hubs - there's on ein particular that will guide you step by step and is written for the absolute beginner. Good luck!
I had a quick look at your Hubs, and I think you're choosing the wrong subjects.
Many people think that you can write about anything you like on the internet and gain an audience. It's not true. Creative writing, chatty anecdotes, personal opinion pieces and poetry all get poor audience figures and don't earn much.
You want people to come to your Hub looking to buy something. That doesn't mean you have to become a salesman - but take a look at my Hubs and you might get some idea. I like writing about dancing, and I could write lots of anecdotes about my life as a dancer but I know that won't make money. Instead, I've written about things like how to choose your first tutu (and included ads for tutus), a review of pointe shoes (with ads for pointe shoes) and so on.
The thing is, all the information is readily available. You may think you know nothing, but there are others who know even less than you. And it's really, really hard to write for the lowest common denominator.
To go from being a beginner to intermediate (and understand what everyone else is saying) requires two things: 1) patience, 2) persistence.
What you do is read the basics. Even if you think that it's a bit above your level. But read it. Read everything. Read this, read that. Look at other peoples How To Hub hubs. The official guides. Forum threads. Do that for a few weeks and guess what, at some stage, and you won't even know when or where, you will have absorbed enough knowledge that you will find that you understand things and concepts that a few weeks prior you thought was in some kind of code. They were using English, but it made no sense whatsoever.
Once you start devouring the information and you start to find a few footholds, you'll soon discover that the steep learning curve is surprisingly easy to climb.
Patience and persistance. Truthfully I know more now than I did five weeks ago, though I still feel a little overwhelmed by it, but I have patience.
I have nothing to lose and everything we gain.
Darkside, that is so encouraging, thanks for what you wrote!
Well said and very encouraging Darkside. Thank you.
There's a framework of learning call Zone of Proximal Development by a psychologist, Vgotsky. It's like starting with a tiny core of solid knowledge. The things you next understand and integrate are the things closest to that core you already know. Eventually you have a large sphere of knowledge or skills.
I will impart all the knowledge I have on the subject. Mind you I am far from successful with this process but I have gotten some clicks.
Step 1. Go to https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
enter the title of your article/hub. Google will bring up all keywords assosiated with what you put in. Select show all in the drop down menu, and scroll through all the entries. Pick a keyword or keyphrase that is a higher paying keyword with 2000 to a cap of 20000 searches per month.
After you figure out your keyword or phrase, edit your article/hub so there is a keyword density of 7-9%. That means per every 100 words your keyword shows up 7 to 9 times. Add your content: text, pictures, videos, etc. Then promote it.
I hope this helps as this is all the information I know and can tell.
One of the biggest factors in achieving earnings with Hubs is writing Hubs that are geared towards doing just that. I used to work retail sales and a lot of it comes down to, are you making Hub that have been written to address a retail market?
Here's my advice based on what seems to be working on my Hubs, http://hubpages.com/hub/Improve-Your-Hub-Earnings
I started at eHow and did some private freelance work before coming to Hub Pages.
I started with this tutorial here: http://freelancehomewriter.blogspot.com … 0Tutorials
Which was super helpful. I would actually even suggest starting at eHow because earnings are based on several (secret) factors and earnings are faster (it appears, from my experience) than with Hub Pages.
Also, this takes time. There's a learning curve on the SEO. A learning curve on the writing. This is a new skill and a new business--you aren't going to get rich quick. Expect to spend 2-4 months mastering the basics, if not longer.
If you've ever written a long novel (I have 3, one even got some attention from publishers) this is kind of like that. Lots of slogging through and pushing yourself to work and sometimes feeling like it's not going to pay off.

I was just like you and I am still learning. I have just written a hub in the easiest way I could. It may not be the way others do it but I have managed in a very short time to have most of my hubs optimized. The early ones were by mistake before I had even heard of keywords and phrases. Darkside is right, read everything you can and eventually you will read something that just clicks into place.

Okay, guys! What am I doing wrong here? I have written 39 hubs, and only made $4.94 on AdSense. That must be the hardest earned $4.94 of my life - no joke! I made more than that in one evening of babysitting 25 years ago.HELP!! Please!! I have heard it takes...

My daily earnings have dropped drastically -- WHY? Is it because HP has pulled ads on my hubs due to the "unfeatured" hubs, which are mostly poems? Are poems not worthy of being featured and getting daily earnings? And WHY does HP decide what should or should not be featured?...

There are tons of hubs on keyword selection and the various tools one could use to make the process easier. But, like most things 'net - they are mostly copies of copies of copies or poorly strewn together theories by intermediate writer-marketers ..So I ask... what was truly masterful, what made...

I plan on editing my existing hubs, the ones with high traffic to get them to rank even better for terms they already rank for, but not at #1 spot. I have a premium SEM rush account using which I can see what I am ranking for and what I can improve upon. I use this on my own website with a lot of...
