I consume a lot of forever living stuffs and all that. I mean i really like to stay healthy and if possible "live for ever". Any health related idea ?

in a word, NO!  unless of course you believe in reincarnation or that you'll end  up in purgatory or heaven when you die, then yes. however, even if you do find a way to live forever, you'll still die.  why?  because in the year 2037, a meteor is predicted to collide with the earth, so that could kill all of us.  or what about haley's comet?  that comes closer and closer to us every time it enters our solar system.  in fact, if it hit the earth, it would shatter it like a glass, and you die from lack of oxygen.  or if that didn't kill you, then there's the  possibility of our sun going nova, and blowing us all to kingdom come.  unless you think mankind will be able to travel the stars to save you.  however, obama just issued to take apart nasa, so looks like your out of luck on that end.  wink

All right, I'll guess i'll have to move up my 2037 activities to 2036 and maybe prioritize some of my 2035 deadlines.  Back to the drawing board!!!

      tJohny:
      As we exist? No.
IF the possiblity exists that we can continue to exist and become a "successful" species, IF we can escape this planet and IF we can genetically engineer the human animal to endure the myriad rigors of life elsewhere in "space," the possiblities are endless.
The "IFs" are what will decide the answer to your question.
      Evolution is eternal.
If human life "survives," the possibility does exist that we could be "morphed" into an eternal form of life.
Who are we to say that in cosmic space, there isn't already that kind of "life?"
Life on this planet will not nurture human life in about 2 billion yrs or less.
Keep your fingers crossed that we can become as successful a species as are alligators and shark.
Good question bye the way! :-)

We come pre-programmed to die - so no. This may change in the future - who knows. Living forever sounds like hell to me. A few hundred years would do me just fine.

Thanks everyone for the insight, at least now i know even though one will not be around forever he/she can still leave a foot - print in the sands of time ; for example , by becoming a teacher.

If you become a teacher you will live for generations that way!  I had this phenomenal teacher that everyone in our community had.  He inspired an interest in reading no one else could.

I have asked myself these questions.

What imprints am I leaving as I go through life?  If someone remembers those impressions after several centuries, do I exist in their thoughts?

If you believe that matter can neither be created or destroyed but only change form then the answer is the material that your body is created with will always exist.  Is that living?

Something to ponder.  If light travels at 299,792,458 meters per second... and can only be stopped when it hits another force... there is no actual end to the universe.

Now put that in perspective to "distance".  The stars we see in the night sky could have burned out billions of years ago.  So we are actually viewing not what is there but what was there.  We are looking back into history.

Now if you look at distance and speed you have to start to really ponder "what is time"?

The bottom line is there are no answers to questions that involve scales of this magnitude.

We each live our own "reality" based on our own perceptions.

Life not in the past or the future, live in the moment and enjoy what you have.

The only part of a person that can live forever is their memory. Do something great and the whole world will keep you alive in their minds and hearts.

Is it possible to live for ever? Immortality can be achieved, however, there are too many other variables to incorporate, to actually provide a believable factual answer.

On a side note- There are plenty of reason to understand why it is not possible at this time. Notice, I said, at this time. Therefore, it isn't impossible to achieve it centuries down the road. smile

yeah, but if our sun goes nova or a meteor hits us, you can't stand there and tell me any kind of herbs or advanced medical science will save you from that.  unless your proposing space travel will be possible in the near future, but O'Bama just disbanned NASA, so we're screwed.   wink
